Didn't think so.

Anybody but Trump!
Majority of Americans want ban on assault weapons...

Anyway, kudos to Walmart for their new policy and pressuring congress to act on common sense gun laws.

From your link:
"We will treat law-abiding customers with respect, and we will have a very non-confrontational approach," he said. "Our remaining assortment will be even more focused on the needs of hunting and sport shooting enthusiasts."
In addition, McMillon said that he would send letters to the White House and congressional leaders that "call for action" on "common sense" gun safety measures. McMillon said Congress should debate re-authorizing the assault weapons ban and expand background checks.
"We encourage our nation's leaders to move forward and strengthen background checks and to remove weapons from those who have been determined to pose an imminent danger," he said. "Congress and the administration should act. Given our decades of experience selling firearms, we are also offering to serve as a resource in the national debate on responsible gun sales."

"
that's a lie I recently conducted my own poll sent it out nationally of those who responded out of a thousand 5 said they had been asked about their opinions on guns. Two questions were asked
Have you ever been asked to take a poll on your opinions of guns
Do you know of anyone that has taken a poll for their opinions on guns
So this bullshit about a majority of Americans doesn't stand the smell test.

70% of Americans want stricter assault weapon laws — more than ever before

MSN Poll results are analyzed to represent the US adult population or specific sub-demographics. MSN describes the US adult population by thousands of combinations of age, gender, education, location and several other demographics. MSN takes the raw polling data and models how demographic groups answered each question, and then projects those answers onto the true distribution of the demographic groups. The method was tested in the 2016 election and proven to be as accurate as other polling methods — more details can be found here.

WalMart's getting killed by Trump's trade war with China; they don't need to put up with nutcases slaughtering their customers in El Paso or the nut who went into a Missouri WalMart and "pretended" to be a domestic terrorist.

https://www.cnn.com/2019/09/03/business/walmart-ends-handgun-ammo-sales/index.html

New York(CNN Business) Walmart on Tuesday announced it will reduce its gun and ammunition sales, one month after more than 20 people were killed in a mass shooting at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas.
Walmart also pressured Congress to enact gun safety measures.

Good for them.
If that's the model Wal-mart wants to adopt, more power to them. It will just help mom and pop retailers who care more about people's right to home self defense than they do about making a political statement.

I believe the day is coming when the USA will be a gun free country. The only people who will have access to guns will be law enforcement, military etc.
This won't happen in my lifetime. But, it will eventually happen. Maybe during my grandkids lifetime.

I'm afraid climate change will wreak its havoc before that day comes, but I admire your optimism. <grin>
