Hitler was a socialist, Joesph Goebbels was a socialist.
They were National Socialists. Vewy diffwent.
BS - the nazis were fascists and so are ordinary socialists. All socialists hate freedom and want govt in charge of everything.
National Socialism is not the same as Marxism, Fabian/Democratic Socialism, or modern "progressive" socialism.
National Socialism is authoritarian, as is fascism. Also like fascism, a NS government takes a strong hand in developing the economic and cultural life of the nation. The similarities end at those broad strokes. "Fascist" has become an all-purpose epithet for shutting down the expression of opposing views (just like "racist") but the facts are more subtle.
Please take a few moments to look at a FAQ article about NS and the platforms of modern American NS organizations. They can help dispel your misconceptions.

In case you're uncomfortable going to NS internet sites (though you shouldn't be as there's nothing unlawful about them), here are some quotes regarding economic ideas (which is the topic of this thread)...
"...an economic system in which a nation’s government plays a central role in monitoring all banking, trade, production, and labor activity which takes place within the nation. Such monitoring is done for the sole purpose of safeguarding & advancing the nation and its people. ... In other words, the government asks, “Is XYZ Enterprises good for our nation and our people?” If yes, it’s approved. If no, it’s not approved. When they ask, “Is it good?”, they mean, “Is XYZ Enterprises good for the workers, do they pay a fair wage, do they produce a product or provide a service which advances our nation & our people technologically, morally, spiritually, health-wise, etc???”" "...usury is not allowed ... The government issues/prints money and lends it interest free, as needed, to grow the economy and ultimately serve the citizens." "...encourages respect for the environment..."
... and about the overall political outlook relative to democracy ...
"National Socialists reject the Establishment’s false democracy, in which the illusion of a people’s government is bolstered by a controlled system of “choices” that all invariably lead to the same end. ... National Socialism does not endorse tyranny; that is, a political apparatus that functions contrary to the interests of the people. National Socialism endorses the “leadership principle,” the idea that a nation is best governed by those most capable of guiding their fellow citizens and providing for their common needs and wants."
These two images, while hardly giving the whole picture, summarize in Hitler's own words (in translation) what the Socialism means in National Socialism:
Our choices aren't between only left (which the right loves to call "nazi" and "fascist") or right (which the left loves to call "nazi" and fascist"), capitalism or Marxism, no borders or race-hate, democracy or tyranny. There's another way.
