A banner year for retail sales? 4.7 trillion bucks spend in 2011? That's what a press release says. Home Depot is hiring 70,000 seasonal workers fore the Spring to Fall period. So? They're not permanent jobs but how many jobs permanent any longer. Car sales are up. Foreclosures are down.
All of that spells recovery to me. Slow, but sure, perhaps, but recovery nonetheless.
Yes there are still too many people hurting but, then, there are always people who need to do better. There are always unemployed people and there are always people who over extend themselves and lose their homes. Even in good times cars are repossessed, wages are attached, law suits filed to recover debts and bankruptcies as well.
Things are looking up. Oranguglad?
