WHo should pull their own weight

Much has been made about the importance of personal responsibility, pulling ones own weight and contributing to the well being of the nation. Even Rick Santorum says this in his stump speaches. So I'm asking conservatives then how they explain the following data. And tis is data from CONSERVATIVE sources like the Tax Foundation or from neutral sources like the US Census

And these data points go back at least 20 years sometimes 40 years.

So these are states that have had long term governance by conservative policies.

1) why are they doing so poorly if they are examples of more ideal governance?
2) looking ath these poor results, why would anyone propose them for the nation as a whole?

For some strange reason, none of the resident Right Wingers wanted to touch those questions with a 10 foot pole.

Well they keep asking dumb quesitons such as "well how does Texas stack up with California"....

and of course the answers are not favourable to Texas even though Texas is one of the 3 best performing Red States....

Simple answer to a convoluted question:

The blue states have higher populations. Not only that, the Red states have larger 'per capita' numbers of 'poor'. Now here's the BIG answer: ....the poor don't vote.

According to this, poor people in ANY state are more likely to be Democrats.

"Take two equally wealthy people. One lives in a blue state and the other lives in a red state. The data show that the voter living in the richer blue state is more likely to be a Democrat than the one in the poorer red state, although both are more likely to be Republican than a poor resident of either state."

This confirms my suspicion, that the poor...don't vote.

That's why the numbers I give are PER CAPITA GDP. Not just raw GDP

Not only that, the Red states have larger 'per capita' numbers of 'poor'.
and why is that? If Conservative economics works so well, why is it that Red States have needed decades of Blue State welfare just to struggle to be in the 21st century and STILL they have disproportionate amounts of poverty, worse levels of education, worse levels of economic growth etc etc?

Why would we look at these examples and suggest its a good idea that we apply these principles to the rest of the nation?
Now here's the BIG answer: ....the poor don't vote.
Which refutes the notion then that the Dems are simply buying votes when they engage in spending on social safetynets. Becuase that's just spending for people who as you say don't vote.

Actually that's not true.

Because Blue states have higher levels of education. and higher levels of education correlate with LOWER rates of GOP voting. IN fact the median education for the core party base is quite different.

Actually, Conservative economics aren't in effect in the Red states.

They are the heaviest users of the welfare state.

And the answer still remains.

The poor, by and large, don't vote.

Great! Throw all the Red States OUT of the Union.

You will be happy, we will be THRILLED!

The World is a better place.
