    The city is overwhelmed with migrants, as are many other towns along the border.

    Here’s a solution to the illegal immigration problem: as soon as the migrants step foot into the US, give them a 5-year work permit, and set them free. They can get jobs, they can pay taxes, they can pay into SS, SSD, FICA and everything else the rest of us get deducted from our paychecks.

    After the five years are up, they can either return to their home countries, or they can renew their permits with the goal of citizenship IF, that is, they have been supporting themselves and their families during those years in the US.

    If they opt to return to their countries, they will forfeit any benefits they may have paid into. That money will benefit US citizens.

    Win/win.
