Trump's child care plan: free stuff!

I am pleased to see the Trump campaign tacking to the left by supporting a national child care relief plan, even if it's not as extensive as the one being proposed by Clinton. Besides being inadequate (as is Clinton's), my only criticisms of his plan are that it appears to be available only to mothers (not to custodial fathers) and that it does nothing to address rising child care costs.

But for all the liberals who jumped on the bandwagon of criticizing his plan from the right, just because it was a Republican who came up with it: shame on you. This is why we can't have a nice country!

I don't see it as Trump tracking to the left. Childcare is something we all care about. All I know is it's something we need! I don't have to worry about it any longer, but my kids do. I know a person a work that said he pays $225 a week for ONE child. Most people couldn't afford that, but for good childcare that's what many have to pay. My daughter is having her first baby any time now. After she's off maternity leave I'll be retiring so I can care for my little granddaughter. My daughter insists on paying me, so we agreed on $100 a week. There's no way they could afford a licensed daycare (and they're happy that I can do it).

Providing for the needs of workers is, of course, a left-wing value. Personally, I think we should have a state-run child care system that pays union scale with automatic cost of living adjustments for inflation. Adults who want to care for their children personally instead of pursuing other careers can take those jobs and improve our society by also helping care for the children of other adults.

If you're talking about unions providing for workers, yes that's a left wing thing. Personally I think unions stink. They steal more from workers than they provide, at least that's what they do nowadays. I don't see how they're needed at all anymore. But that's a different subject.

Exactly where can I read Hillary's plan. To my knowledge, it doesn't exist. A Link Please.

Preparing to Become Abandoned Adults

Isn't that what our school system is all about? Baby-sitting. I don't see much learning getting done, so it must be designed to store children away during the day so their parents don't have to pay for childcare.

Hi Caroljo: We are helping a grand daughter through school and she has more on her plate than most students have. And she has plowed through in spite of everything. We as a family have to help.
