Comparing how SKorea dealt with the TrumpVirus to the US

America's BEST American: Impartial and Bipartisan
S Korea has a population of roughly 50 million, the US around 350 million or about 7 times as many people. Both countries got their first case on 1/20/2020, the same day. In S Korea their leaders took the TrumpVirus as a serious threat and immediately took action to contain the virus. In the US Trump downplayed the threat. While S Korea was handling things the way they should have been in the US Trump was making the following statements:

January 22: “We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China. It’s going to be just fine.” (CNBC)

February 2: “We pretty much shut it down coming in from China.” (Fox News)

February 10: “A lot of people think that goes away in April with the heat—as the heat comes in.” (Bloomberg)

February 24: “The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA… Stock market starting to look very good to me.” (Twitter)

February 26: “It’s going very substantially down, not up… The 15 within a couple of days, is going to be down to zero.” (CNN)

In fact up until a couple of days ago the Moron in Chief was actively telling America that he hoped that we would be getting back to work right after Easter - what a fool!

Here is how things stand today as far as total case and deaths:

S Korea 9,786 cases, 162 deaths
USA 165,874 cases, 3178 deaths

If Trump had acted responsibly the US would have probably had numbers similar to those of S Korea and probably had somewhere around 7 times as many infections as they did or about 69,000 cases and 1,134 deaths. The numbers speak for themselves. We are in the shape we are in because of Donald Trump, his supporters and the right wing media that downplayed the seriousness of this situation.

Only American leftists and the communist Chinese government are referring to this global pandemic as the "Trump virus". That's not a coincidence.

Soooo what did S Korea do that was so much better than what we did?

I doubt distracting the American people with impeachment while the media should have been paying attention to important matter was any help.

They started screening people, warning people and separating people all the while Trump was golfing and holding rallies.

So they did the job our news service should have done while it was busy cheering on Trump's impeachment.
Actually other than Fox News the American media did to their jobs and warned about the pandemic. Fox News and the right wing media downplayed it.

But don't let facts get in the way of your idiocy....

I feel a bit lightheaded. Maybe you should drive.
The biggest difference? South Korea went through a bad viral epidemic ten years ago, so they had a trial run, and we didn't. The South Korean people adopted the social distancing, self quarantining and extreme personal hygiene seriously from the get go, while most Americans (even leftists) did not.

Nope - leftists warned you - you called it a "Democrat hoax" and downplayed the severity.

Lets face it, you people didn't know any better than the rest of us. Nancy Pelosi was telling people to get their asses down to Chinatown and Bill DiBlasio was telling New Yorkers to go to the movies in late February and early March. As has been the case for the past three and a half years, you were simply mindlessly hectoring Trump over anything and everything, and you just happened to get lucky this time that this virus started killing thousands of Americans. Count your blessings...

Don't forget all the leftnuts called Trump "racist" for his travel ban on China in January. Pelosi was handing out souvenir impeachment pens (made in China, btw) while President Trump was tackling the Chinese virus issue.

That's a canard. They were no more prepared to test for Covid-19 than we were - they were merely able to produce a test quickly, which we cannot do thanks to the FDA bureaucracy. They also had experience with similar disease outbreaks in the past:

Another thing that links Hong Kong, Singapore and South Korea is that they've all had bad coronavirus outbreaks in the past. Hong Kong and Singapore were hit hard by SARS in 2003, and South Korea came to a standstill during a MERS outbreak in 2015.

Their experiences with these past outbreaks may have made officials more aggressive in responding to COVID-19 and possibly made residents more willing to accept intrusive measures to contain the virus.

So their people responded more aggressively to the government warnings than Americans. So the real difference wasn't so much the government response as it was the citizens'. But hey, don't let the facts get in the way of your anti-Trumpian rage...

So what you are saying is the US should have taken a lesson... but we never do. Health Care is THE perfect example. The US has the whole world to look at as to how they run their health care systems. I personally would have cherry picked the best parts of all the operations... but what do I know. And no one is lobbying me to make it profitable for THEM.

Yeah, I think you guys keep telling us our health care should be more like Europe's - how's their covid-19 response working out for them?
