NFL to play a (ahem) Black National Anthem before first week games.

The African American players do not object to the national anthem.

Of course they do. 70% of the players are black and so in the mind of the NFL the national anthem is racist. If that isn't the fact then BLM and Antifa have sure been successful in making it appear to be so.

It is not literally a separate national anthem, calling it that is an expression, like saying "Sweet Home Alabama" is the red neck national anthem, or "its five o'clock somewhere" is the boozers national anthem.

Yes, I agree. This is just worthless "virtue signalling" by billionaires trying to keep from losing their revenue streams. Personally, I'm okay with eliminating the National Anthem at sporting events. That makes sense. But at least it was (ostensibly) aimed at American patriotism. Which (presumably) includes African AMERICANS. What I don't get is why we need to start playing the "black national anthem" which isn't, you know, "designed to be national" at all, but rather is segregationist. It implies acceptance of the concept that African Americans have no reason to be considered as part of "one America" and instead need their own, parallel "nationalism" separate and apart from the rest of us. Sounds like a "slippery slope" to me.
