You've got you be kidding. 28 years have gone by since the Rodney King fiasco, and YOU STILL are bamboozled by KTLA's doctored tape, and YOU STILL cling to the 100% discredited FALSE claim of police brutality ? YOU STILL, even now, don't know what happened there ?

Wow. There is no limit to the ignorance of information-deprived, brainwashed liberal victims of liberal OMISSION media. In this case, it was OMISSION of much of tape of the King arrest, taking it totally out of context, and deliberately PORTRAYING it a police brutality. The KTLA tape, Rodney King video, deliberately doctored out King's massive resistance, leaving in only the last few seconds, where cops had exhausted all previous means, then becoming forced to use force on King to subdue him. (maybe you would have suggested offering him a lollipop ?)

Wow. 28 years gone by, and libs still don't know the Rodney King, KTLA-TV super Fake News episode. Well, uninformed one, in a nutshell, after King leading cops on a high-speedchase of up to 115 MPH and 85 MRH on residential streets (miraculous that no one was killed), King's 2 buddies in the car with him, Freddie Helms and Bryant Allen, surrendered peacefully to the police, were handcuffed without resistance, and put in the police car. While they sat still and quietly there, angel dust Rodney did about everything you could think of that could be put in the category of resisting arrest, and then some. After being told to lie on the ground (as his buddies had done), he ignored commands, he danced around, he babbled to himself, he smiled/laughed, wiggled his ass at the female officer (Melanie Singer), waved to the police helicopter overhead. Then he began to meander about, crouching and kneeling, and just about everything but lying down, as the cop instructed.

After enough of this lunacy, the senior officer present, Sergeant Stacey Koon ordered 4 officers to subdue King. They attempted, and the 6 foot 4, 250 pound King, blasted with PCP (his friends later conceded & testified), and having superhuman strength, and impervious to pain from the drug, was able to shake the officers off. Koon shot King with a taser dart which had little effect on the "dusted" Rodney. Rodney then leaped up and lunged at Officer Powell, which earned him his first whack from a police baton (billy club). Koon again tasered King but the heavily drugged Rodney shook it off. Having tried everything else, the cops were down to their next-to last option, the batons.

So now after fighting with the cops, resisting arrest to the hilt, they went with the by-the-book procedure for subduing aggressive suspects, short of lethal action. 3 cops started hitting King with batons, as King kept on fighting against the cops, and getting back up off the ground. If/when King moved and moved to get up, the cops wacked him. It was ONLY this part of the whole confrontation (previously riddled with resisting arrest fighting), that KTLA allowed viewers to see, repeated on an endless loop on TV, the tape deliberately edited/FAKED to suggest police brutality, instead of the actual event, with King lunging at the officers, a violent, belligerent suspect.

Nearly everyone who saw the whole taping, agreed the cops did what they had to do, only because of King's strong, massive, and illegal resistance. But that isn't what the public saw. They saw the KTLA-edited version, which was clearly designed to suggest racism and police brutality (with the first 13 seconds of the videotape deliberately cut out).

In summary, 2 juries in 2 trials, said it wasn't racism, the police, and Rodney King himself said it wasn't racism. The media's "conclusion" ? Racism. And of the resulting riots ? 54 dead, thousands of injuries, a Billion $ damages. There you have it, 28 years late. Better late than never.

For more information see Chapter 8 in the book Mugged, by Ann Coulter, entitled RODNEY KING - THE MOST DESTRUCTIVE EDIT IN HISTORY. (with 40 footnote sources backing it up, in addition to the WHOLE UNEDITED videotape of the incident)

After this, no excuse to not know what happened.

Everything the cops did was proper. Everything King (and KTLA-TV) did was IMproper.

As for your weird question about the riots, there is no such thing as "Trump's riot", and are you still unaware of OMISSION media CNN's doctored video that OMITTED Trump's caution to be "PEACEFUL" ? Information-deprived on that too ?
so where is the video to back up your version?

Under federal law, the officers could also be prosecuted for violating Rodney King’s constitutional rights, and on April 17, 1993, a federal jury convicted Koon and Powell for violating King’s rights by their unreasonable use of force under color of law. Although Wind and Briseno were acquitted, most civil rights advocates considered the mixed verdict a victory. On August 4, Koon and Powell were sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison for the beating of King. King received $3.8 million in a civil suit against the Los Angeles police department.

Cops have been convicted of worse than this, all the while being 100% innocent. This is the sad state of affairs of our country. Verdicts are done to appease rioting mobs, and prevent destruction. Cops take the hit.

Sometimes they're convicted, sometimes acquitted, all depending on the politics of the locale. In many cases, they should not have been charged at all. Rodney King case is clearly one of those. They didn't want another LA riot. Cops should not have gone to prison. King should have, and should not have received a dime.

There is no video to show the events of King's drunkeness (twice legal blood alcohol limit 5 hours after arrest), most of his resisting arrest, and acting crazy. This video does however, show King's last lunge (there were several others before this before the recording began) within the first 5 seconds of the recording.

it also shows King's continued resisting arrest, by continually trying to get back up on his feet (to attack officers again, I would presume if I were one of them) instead of lying on the ground flat as he was ordered to do (and as the 3 black taxi passengers did - all of whom went home without a scratch).

at 0:19, King starts getting back up. He is clubbed back down. At 0:25, he tries to get up again, making it to his knees. At 0:30 he gets up higher, almost standing, but is clubbed back down. 0:34 again starts rising & gets clubbed back down (all of this not complying with the simple instruction to lie down flat).

At 0:45, King again moves away from the lie flat position, and rolls over onto his back, now facing the officers. He then rolls around on the ground. At 1:05, with his foot, one of the officers attempts to push King's head down to get him to lie flat. At 1:09, King yet again, ignoring commands, rises up from the directed prone position, and get up to his knees. After this, King was not on the ground, as officers directed at all, but was kneeling or sitting upright, until 1:40, when officers wrestled him back to the ground.

After this, cops struggled to cuff King, with him resisting and fighting their efforts the whole time. At 2:30 of the recording, King is finally cuffed and they all stand up. At no time did any of these cops go outside of the by-the-book, normal, police protocol, being forced to go to batons, when taser darts had no effect on the severely drunk and "dusted" (Angel dust) Rodney King, who got hit only when he brought it upon himself, by repeatedly trying to get up off the ground.

If viewers of the KTLA tape had known that each baton strike was appropriate, and purposeful, they might have not reacted negatively, and there might not have been any riot. BUT, one would have to sit through actual legal evidence presented in a courtroom to know that. The jury did, and they acquitted the officers.

Another case of the public being ignorant of police activity, and police confrontations, as a result of deficient education, thereby resulting in a riot.

There were riots and protests in other places just because white cops shot a black guy. In the Rodney King episode, 54 people died in the riot that came from it, and the cops had followed proper procedure.

Then there was Adam Toledo, Jacob Blake, Terrance Crutcher, Philando Castille, Walter Scott, Ahmaud Arberry, George Floyd, Atatiana Jefferson, etc.
There were protests in this case too. They didn't turn into riots because the government and the right didn't have agents provocateurs there to inject violence into them and they didn't impose draconian curfews that left local residents with the alternatives of rioting or starving.

King was beaten in revenge long after he had given up attempting to resist.

Cops are almost NEVER convicted, since the law gives them incredible leeway and prosecutors and judges deliberately do everything they can to sabotage cases against them. For a cop to be convicted, they have to be OBVIOUSLY guilty of the most egregious sort of brutality, AND there has to be a sustained public protest campaign to win justice.
