Ask Israel. And to be honest I don't implicitly trust our system anymore. That distrust began for this epidemic when Fauci said masks didn't work. I was literally done with him the day he said that.

And knowing helps how?

Actually, yes. Brand new tech never before proven at all? Introcuding the S protein spike directly into people. The S protein spike is the vascular disease. Pure S protein was injected into mice and it destroyed the mice.
1. When did Fauci say masks don't work?
2. Knowing the positive impact, even if not permanent, saved lives.
3. mRna is not "brand new".

Try providing links to your claims. Otherwise, because your credibility is non-existant...your opinions don't count for much.

when Fauci said masks didn't work
I criticized US health officials mercilessly for that, in March 2020. It was clear what they were doing at the time: they were trying to prevent a run on masks, in the face of low supply, in order to preserve the masks for use in the setting where they were most crucial: healthcare. But lying for a good cause still undermines trust. I ignored their advice at the time and wore masks, and encouraged others to do so.

However, as angry as I was about it, at the time, I have to admit it didn't end up mattering. Sure, the low-IQ set will sometimes now point to that as the reason they distrust Fauci, but they're lying. They distrust Fauci because Trump bashed him and they're lemmings who will mirror any tantrum they see from Dear Leader.

For me, the smoking gun is that they're nearly all the same people who bash the effectiveness of masks today.... once again, channeling Dear Leader. They're not people who believe in the effectiveness of masks and so hold it against Fauci that he spoke against them. Rather, they're people who believe whatever the cult leaders of the right are saying, whether that's that masks don't work or that Fauci is a liar for saying they don't work.... and, being morons, they don't even require internal logical consistency in those positions they take.

So, Fauci was definitely playing with fire when he undermined health-official credibility by lying about masks. But, it didn't end up mattering. The low-IQ set was going to distrust him equally either way, and the rest of us have long since gotten over it. We never regarded him as an infallible cult figure the way Trumpers do with Trump. We regarded him as one of a wide array of expert voices, and when they're unified on a point (as they weren't on masks, at the time, but as they are on vaccination, now), we're convinced.

I'm not sure if Fauci, specifically, said so, but there was guidance from the CDC that masks were not helpful in a non-healthcare-worker context. They even had guidance suggesting that anything short of a perfectly fitting N95 mask wasn't going to help. That was always bunk, as was obvious, at the time. But they were trying to prevent a run on medical masks, at a time when they were in short supply.

1. Early on when he didn't want people to run out and buy them. He should have told people to sew their own.
2. Did it? We'll have to wait a few years to see what happens to the vaccinated.
3. Dear God that's my point. You got careless and just said invented mRNA when you likely meant mRNA vaccine technology. Hello?

You broke and made it political. Trump, Trump, Trump... Trump, Trump, Trump... :0)

Fauci should have told people to sew their own masks. That it might be an airborne disease that a simple double layered, 400 thread count, inserted tissue mask might protect against until determined otherwise. He didn't and it devolved quickly from there.

And look where Fauci is now. Likeliest father of the Covid bastard son with his CCP bride.

You said Fauci wrote that they don't work...that was false. This is from your link.

Fauci wrote: "Masks are really for infected people to prevent them from spreading infection to people who are not infected rather than protecting uninfected people from acquiring infection.
Sure.

Yes, I understand that those on the right hate to have Trump's awfulness brought up, but to be clear, it's not my job to protect the delicate sensibilities of his cult. When Trump is relevant to the point I'm making, I'm going to go right on and bring him up.

Fauci should have told people to sew their own masks.
Agreed. He screwed up. That error may have had a real-world cost, early on, in accelerating the initial surge of the virus. But, for the reasons I explained, I don't think it had a longer-term impact, as I feared it would, from undermining confidence in authorities. More reasonable people got why it was he did what he did, and although they may regard him with a bit more skepticism than they otherwise would, that hasn't had a practical impact because what he's saying is generally entirely aligned with pretty much every other expert, so even if we double-checked Fauci, we'd come to the same conclusions. Meanwhile, the Fauci-bashers are just Trump cultists who'd be bashing him regardless of his original position on masks, because they are responding not to that but instead to their marching orders from Trump, who hated Fauci for not playing along with Trump's various insane talking points.

Fauci's comment was in early March. It was based on information at the time that Covid wasn't airborne. That was March 8th.

The interview predates the CDC’s updated guidance on the use of face coverings. On April 3, 2020, the CDC updated its previous advice and recommended people wear cloth face coverings “in public settings when around people outside their household, especially when social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.”

At that time we were seeing less than 50 reported cases per day, nationwide.

So was pushing Remdesevir. Not calling for border closure early on. Funding gain of function in Wuhah. Denying he did before congress. Quibbling about what gain of function is. Emailing people in a conspiracy to cover their funding tracks. Sending co-conspirator Daszak to investigate the origin of the Wuhan virus. Backing Tedros instead of asking for his replacement. I'm missing so much more because this is by memory and I don't want to tax it anymore.

Thanks for your inciteful and well thought out response...for you this is a milestone of cogent response....but that is a pretty low bar. At least you didn't tell a lie.
You're a modern historian.

I say this because most modern historians are insufferable leftists who got into the business apparently for propagandist purposes.

And your claiming Fauci's position on the matter on a 2nd statement made in time as the primary evidence is just what a modern historian would pull. I'm not interested in google wars with you. Especially given how google is curated to handicap the debate to their purposes which more often than not is leftist.

I posted the facts that on March 8th Fauci made a statement about masks and that in April he offered a different opinion based on CDC and WHO guidelines.
Have you forgotten that originally we thought Covid was not airborne? Did you also forget that in February we had a few dozen cases?

I post facts, you turn them in to some kind of political bullshit in your attempt to discredit Fauci.

@middleview There are "givens" and when you deny them... you don't look good.

In the clip, Dr Fauci says “There’s no reason to be walking around with a mask. When you’re in the middle of an outbreak, wearing a mask might make people feel a little bit better and it might even block a droplet, but it’s not providing the perfect protection that people think that it is. And, often, there are unintended consequences — people keep fiddling with the mask and they keep touching their face.”

Fauci made this comment on an interview with 60 Minutes on March 8, during the early stages of the novel coronavirus outbreak in the United States.

This is a lie. It was based on information that it was unknown whether it was airborne or not.

When unknown you take the higher safety choice. You recommend mask wearing.

He was going on CDC and WHO recommendations, as well as the fact that there was a shortage of PPE. He offered different advice a month later...

Remember that at that time we had less than 50 cases per day, nationwide.
