Impeachment

Zam-Zam

Senator
There was a time when this might be big news:

Rep. Bob Gibbs introduces articles of impeachment against Biden

EXCLUSIVE — Ohio Republican Rep. Bob Gibbs introduced articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden on Tuesday, citing his handling of the U.S.-Mexico border situation, attempt to expand the federal moratorium on evictions, and the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan.

Republican Reps. Andy Biggs of Arizona and Brian Babin and Randy Weber of Texas signed on as co-sponsors of the impeachment resolution.

“I take this seriously. I don't think it's haphazard. I'm not trying to get media attention for myself,” Gibbs told the Washington Examiner in an interview. “He’s done so much damage to this country in less than nine months, which is really scary.”

“He's not capable of being commander in chief, and that's obvious by the actions since Day One when he took the presidency back in January,” Gibbs said. “Maybe something like this makes the White House think twice before they do some of this nonsense."

Now, I believe, this is something that is very likely to happen to every president at some point.

I doubt this this will amount to much, just as previous attempts to remove a president have failed....And I can't imagine that, even if it could, that Republicans are anxious to have Kamala Harris take over.

I think this is just where we are as a society now.

Sadly, you’re correct. Tribalist, hyper-partisan, politics-as-center-of-life lunatics have rendered so many things meaningless. Impeachment is now a silly, cheap, thoughtlessly leveraged tool. Racism has largely lost its meaning. Equality has been shortened to “equity” and now essentially means “marxism”. Dudes aren’t dudes and chicks aren’t chicks.

These devolved folks are just getting warmed up.

I think sometimes that it does not occur to people that any tactic they employ can also be employed against them.

That’s true (but likely a small price to pay in their minds, since political order is their sacred sphere). They’ll toggle any switch because the cause is so transformative.

Trump committed a crime by withholding a congressional appropriation from Ukraine without notifying congress...that was determined to be an abuse of power....
He then ordered federal employees to ignore congressional subpoenas...which was obstruction.

It wasn't a tactic. It was the legal and justified action of Congress in it's oversight role.

Trump incited a riot intended to keep him in power. No other president has stooped so low.

Nixon tried to hide a burglary performed by his re-election team and surely would have been impeached. So what did the republicans do to retaliate? The White Water investigation for 6 solid years.

Biden ignored immigration law, Biden ignored a SC ruling, Biden overstepped congress when he pulled troops and left people to die in a hostile foreign country. He needs to go bye bye. A rest home would be the kindest thing to do for him.

Trump ignored immigration law by sending those seeking asylum to Mexico...
without allowing any due process for their application.

Trump pulled 10,000 troops from Afghanistan and left people to die in a hostile country...even forcing the Afghan government to release 5,000 enemy pows.
When did he consult congress about it?

You can disagree with an administrations policies...that doesn't make your opinions grounds for impeachment.

Nope, we saw what your idiot leaders tried to do to Trump. Nothingburgers. Oh and the stay in Mexico policy was reversed by biden, and then reversed again when he realized his mistake. Trump left military in Afghanistan and had it under control. He didn't pull the military out and leave American citizens to be tortured and killed. You know that's a democratic standard. First Benghazi, then Afghanistan.

Are you nuts? Trump pulled 10,000 troops out and left 2,500...not even enough troops to secure both Bagram and the Kabul airport. How many Americans were still in Afghanistan when Trump pulled all those troops out?

How many Americans have been tortured or killed since January?

I'm sure that's how you see it.

One side is evil. One side is virtuous.

Just like in fairy tales.

Ah, well, so on it goes.

Perhaps moving forward, it will be rare for a president not to have articles of impeachment filed against him/her.

Anything to trivialize elections...

It really is awful. Few have faith in any aspect of our government. Pols are self-serving, deceitful, and phony. Bureaucrats, bureaucracies, and agencies are weaponized and politicized, destroying all legitimacy and credibility. Those seeking to broaden influence and jurisdiction will find themselves disregarded.

NO military members died in Afghan in 2020
13 were killed under Biden in 2021

Many and damn shame you not one of the tortured or killed

prove many Americans have been tortured or killed...

How many did Trump evacuate after he surrendered? 3,000 Afghan troops and 1,000 civilians were killed during Trump's ceasefire...with no US air support.
