The Frontier Spirit Is Not Dead Even in Our Decadent Times

Who was the last to win without a majority of the states? The extra electors were given to the less populated states because the majority of Americans wanted the option of moving to them.
In 1960 Nixon won the majority of states...and lost.
In 2020 Trump won 25 states...and lost by 7 million votes.

So the most backward parts of the USSR (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Siberia, etc.) ended up becoming developed and industrialized under Soviet leadership while members of minority groups became educated to an unusual extent. Meanwhile, the rural South in the U.S. has languished in backwardness.
yes, and then the entire country disassembled itself.

So let's do all presidential elections in the house...who needs democratic elections for president? Actually...why not just have each president pick his successor...
Works so well for North Korea.
Suffocating Under Statist Suffrage

There's nothing democratic about the government going against our will by letting feral minorities vote and letting in otherThird World savages to become citizens and vote, too. Then there are the anchor babies and immigration criminals given amnesty, all those White-hating parasites also spawned children and grandchildren undemocratically being allowed to vote. Without these illegal franchises, the Postmodern "Democratic" Party would be on the fringe and not taken seriously at all.

So how many of these "feral" minorities have you run across? The only ones I know of are the OathKeepers and Proud Boys....can you believe they are allowed to vote?

You do realize that citizenship is required to vote, right? Reagan was the last one to give amnesty to illegal immigrants.

What shouldn't be taken seriously is the modern day nazi party and their leader Adolf Trump...

Farewell to Feralphiles and Fairyphiles

Just because your führer is Adolf Godwin doesn't mean the group you fear most is also goose-stepping behind one man's drumroll.

just because your leader's dictates were ignored by over 80 million voters and he got fired is no reason for you to constantly walk around with your panties in a wad...get over it. Trump lost.

In a sense; certainly not as a matter of volition. The point is that the masses turned against the USSR because the USSR turned against socialism, and brought down the USSR in an effort to rescue socialism.
That makes zero sense. Gorbachev's steps to cease the police state led to a massive exodus of people through the borders previously manned by the military with orders to shoot on sight.

Do you send your robe and hood out to be dry cleaned or do you wash that stuff at home? If so, what kind of bleach do you use to keep them so white?

Just asking for @reason10

And? That was a concession to the rising popular movement, while suppression of that popular movement was what made Gorbachev’s economic agenda (raising prices, privatization, and encouraging imperialist investment) possible.

You are making less and less sense here. So Gorbachev made a concession by demilitarizing the borders...and that allowed people to flee to the west..and then his suppression of the popular movement made privatization, private investment and price increases possible?

Look...the economy of the USSR exposed a crumbling financial environment. The end of the cold war left factories idle, since they didn't need all the military equipment they already had. The cost of the war in Afghanistan has to be taken into consideration as well. The USSR was providing financial aid to all of the East block nations, as well as Cuba...that aid had to end. Moscow couldn't afford it.

Decades of repression by the Stalinist bureaucracy under Stalin and his political heirs such as Gorbachev weakened the working class sufficiently that the ruling Stalinist caste was able to push through the pro-capitalist reforms they long wanted. But the workers continued to fight back in defense of the socialist revolution betrayed by Stalin et al., and as part of that defense won some democratic reforms such as demilitarizing the borders.

Gorbachev was not a stalinist. His Glasnost effort was all about correcting the policies of Andropov, Khrushchev, Breshnev and others...

You mean, it was about the reins of power slipping from his bureaucratic caste’s hands due to the working class getting stronger (victory in Vietnam, revolutions in Grenada, Nicaragua, and Burkina Faso, strikes by Solidarity defeating the Polish government) … the same phenomenon we saw after the Soviet Union won WWII and the Korean and Chinese revolutions triumphed and the Kremlin was obliged to announce its “de-Stalinization” policy.

Every time socialism has advanced, Stalinism has been weakened, and every time socialism has been dealt a setback, Stalinism has become stronger.
