The way I understand "Defund the Police"

First off, that's a lousy name for the reality of what you want to see happen. Cops need longer training if we want it to work.

Secondly, I think we should understand that most of those who shout to defund the police really mean is break it up. America's cops aren't trained to handle people with emotional problems. I've seen enough video (dirty laundry) to make that clear, to me.

We need to handle each case separately with 911 responders. A three digit punch to point to where the problem is.

Yeah, that'll take a lot of money. But hell, you've got to dig a little deeper if you want justice- the right kind of justice.

Unfortunately, what many cities meant by “defund the police” is “defunding the police”… as evidenced by their subsequent actual defunding of the police.

Holy smokes, dude. They chanted it, then the city enacted it, then the city executed it. But there I go believing my own lying eyes again…

Too Late

Look at Cali and smash and grab mobs..........and cops not allowed to shoot them to end the BS

And you don't understand that that statement has been going on for how long?

You want slaves.

Have you ever looked into the corruption in police depts all around the country?

You need to enlighten yourself. Then you'll see where some of the crime comes from.

I agree that "Defund the Police" was the wrong term to use. And I agree that more training is called for. There are a couple of examples in my community I'd like to share indicating that police get in over their heads when the call is for someone with mental problems.

1. Police were called by a family whose relative was having a mental break. They needed help to get him hospitalized. Cops went in to the bedroom where the man was in the bed waving a knife. The cops shot him dead. Oh yeah, he was a black man.

2. Police were called to an outdoor gathering where a man obviously mentally disturbed was waving a gun. A rookie cop rushed him and the man shot him dead. Had a SWAT mental health team instead of the cops gone to the scene, that young rookie cop would still be alive.

There's also a high incident of homeless people being shot by cops. Most are mentally ill.

I feel a bit lightheaded. Maybe you should drive.
Just another example of the left furiously trying to reframe an agenda item that blew up in their faces...

It’s typical winger lying - a handful of people use that phrase and wingers have a lying contest to see how they can best pretend that actually defunding the police is the Dem agenda.

Ridiculous lying, as always. I have never heard anyone say we should not have police. I have heard people say that reform is in order, such as having true oversight of police, which may or may not have funding implications.

The bottom line choice is simple - either one is disturbed by so many killings of unarmed people (usually blacks), or one is not. Either one wants reforms put in place to address that problem, or one does not. Dems tend to want such reforms, and wingers like such things the way they are. That’s the REAL issue, as opposed to the phony “defund police” issue framed by the wingers.

The way you understand this is doesn't get to the depth of the issue.

First we have a to address the language " Defund the Police" and whose version of the language is the acceptable version.

Whose version are you talking about?

Defund the Police?

I failed to point out the obvious- the militarization of them.

Alright then. You admit that there is an issue. We're making progress.

I've addressed the point I'm making, hence my OP.

Got a problem? Tell me where I'm wrong with your version.

1. There is an issue
a. You can't really say what the issue is.
b. Progess hasn't been made

2. Not really
a. You claim of what the P.D. can't do with no reasonable replacement solution.

3. You claim it will take lots of money.
a. For what? You shown us nothing to invest in.

All you have done is suggest defund the police...So this begs questions as the first post, since you have eluded to:

1. You have no clue what to suggest.
2. You will probably wind up with some new fangled idea, such instead what we have now it will be different, and to stand out they will wear uniforms, have laws to follow, and use motorcycles or cars, sometimes horses or on foot...Oh wait we already do that.

When you get a plan let me know.

4. My version:
a. I don't have a defund version

Meanwhile as you and Joe* continue act like you have a plan, crime skyrockets. Things aren't getting better.

Not our name. It's a name given by your fellow goose stepping lefties. And it's not about training. It's about getting rid of cops and turning crime fighting over to social workers.

Secondly, I think we should understand that most of those who shout to defund the police really mean is break it up. America's cops aren't trained to handle people with emotional problems. I've seen enough video (dirty laundry) to make that clear, to me.

ALL criminals have emotional problems. They ALL have lower IQs, (kinda like liberals in general). And they are NOT going to respond to limp wristed social workers who try to understand and show caring. They will just SHOOT AND KILL those people. Violent criminals are animals. The only thing they understand is greater FORCE.

We need to handle each case separately with 911 responders. A three digit punch to point to where the problem is.

We have 911 responders now. And crime is through the roof, thanks to Biden.

Yeah, that'll take a lot of money. But hell, you've got to dig a little deeper if you want justice- the right kind of justice.

The only think a lot of money should be spent on is more cops and more prisons. (I agreed with President Trump that first time marijuana smokers were clogging up the
prison system, which is why he signed the bill that released hundreds of THOUSANDS of them. And don't forget it was Biden who drafted the law that put those African Americans behind bars in the first place.)

More cops with better equipment, especially in minority neighborhoods where the residents are SCREAMING for more police presence. More prisons so violent offenders have a nice peaceful cell to park their scumbag asses for nice long prison terms. A public message that violent crime WILL BE PUNISHED.

Scumbags understand that. They don't understand social workers.

Oh, and a little SECOND AMENDMENT freedom couldn't hurt. Right now Chicago has (a) the WORST murder rate in the country and (b) the toughest gun laws.

Maybe some armed citizens deciding to fight back like Kyle Rittenhouse, and a lot of problems would be solved.

You seem to think ALL police departments are corrupt.

That makes you a bigot.

If someone jacks your car, don't call a corrupt cop.
