Today, the TxDSHS Covid-19 Dashboard reported 71 new fatalities in Texas in the previous 24 hours.
Look at the positive side.

Pretty soon TX is going to have the youngest healthiest population in the U.S. and not have the burden of sickly retirees on its hands. Probably saving several billion over the next decade or so.

I don't see a positive side yet that outweighs the negative.

I think we can guess what is the leading cause of death among the unvaccinated.

Note: This brief was originally published on October 13, 2021 and was updated in December 2021.

This brief examines how deaths from COVID-19 rank among other leading causes of death in the U.S. We find that COVID-19 was the third leading cause of death in November 2021. We also find that in October, COVID-19 was the number 1 cause of death for people age 45-54 and in the top 7 leading causes of death for other age groups, aside from infants.

"Fatalities
Deaths for which COVID-19 is listed as a direct cause of death on the death certificate. A medical certifier, usually a doctor, determines the cause(s) of death. DSHS does not include deaths of people who had COVID-19 but died of an unrelated cause. Fatalities are reported by where the person lived as listed on the death certificate."

I feel a bit lightheaded. Maybe you should drive.
So all of a sudden people started dying of causes other than the disease that was packing the hospital ICUs ?

What do you suppose those other causes were ?
Davison said the increase in deaths represents “huge, huge numbers,” and that’s it’s not elderly people who are dying, but “primarily working-age people 18 to 64” who are the employees of companies that have group life insurance plans through OneAmerica.

“And what we saw just in third quarter, we’re seeing it continue into fourth quarter, is that death rates are up 40% over what they were pre-pandemic,” he said.
“Just to give you an idea of how bad that is, a three-sigma or a one-in-200-year catastrophe would be 10% increase over pre-pandemic,” he said. “So 40% is just unheard of.”

Davison was one of several business leaders who spoke during the virtual news conference on Dec. 30 that was organized by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.
Most of the claims for deaths being filed are not classified as COVID-19 deaths, Davison said.

I didn't ask about the deaths.

I want to know why the ICUs were being overwhelmed if this was not killing people.

If Covid wasn't killing them, then they should not have been in the ICUs in those huge numbers.

Explain your way around that factotum
