No courage to control guns, including under this administration

Sure, AFTER numerous people were shot dead. Ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure. Looks like this school did not have that ounce of prevention.
Nobody wants armed people walking around schools all the live long day. There must be a better way

Good point we need to quash the weakazz of mind culture that's being perpetuated in the upbringing of individuals that can't handle a goddamn thing in this life and therefore lash out with violence predicated upon their ingrained mental instability..

Good point, some real solid stuff there thanks
NO, it was NOT good point, because what you just said was not his point. Your point is about mental illness. His point was about gun rights and responsibilities.

I don't know how many people "wants armed people walking around schools all the live long day", and I dont know if you know either. if you have some evidence of what you say, let's hear it.

As for me, YES, I absolutely DO want armed people walking around schools all the live long day (who are trained and ready to deal with a criminal). And if that had been the case, lives would have been saved here. When will Americans learn that ?

I doubt those facts make it into his news sources.
I saw that. Doesn't make sense that they allowed him to enter the school. Were they standing down ? No way this fool should have been able to get as far as he did. If I had been a teacher in that school, the second the guy opened fire, I would have put a bullet in his head.

Point every which way. This administration, too.

It's a mental health issue. We should be questioning everyone that posts or menaces with guns.
I take it then you would support rigorous mental health screening for anyone wishing to buy a gun. No?

I don't think armed folk in schools is the way to go.

I support rigorous screening and regulations preceding the sale of guns

I support mental health screening and attention to persons hinting at violence.
Of course. But do you support rigorous mental health screening for anyone wishing to buy a gun?

We can't control guns any more than we can control illicit drugs. If people want them, they'll get them, no matter how many laws they have to break.

How people don't get that is a puzzlement.

And, quite often, drugs and guns seem to go together.

This story, from May 15, doesn't get as much attention as Texas and Buffalo:

Chicago shootings: 31 shot, 5 fatally, in weekend violence, CPD says

Chicago violence: 31 shot, 5 fatally, in shootings across city, police say - ABC7 Chicago

And so it goes.

The mental health here is no different than abroad.
Yet we have mass shooting, other countries have far far fewer.
Okay. Let's see your report on "other countries."
1. Pick a country.
2. Describe it's crime rates, and whether or not it has mass shootings.
3. Compare the mental health figures in America with those in the country you choose. Provide reliable sources of documentation.

Of course, there are no mass shootings in North Korea or Cuba, (where there is also no personal liberty.) You are welcome to move to those countries any time you feel unsafe. There's perhaps a half a million people in the world who would take your place in a heartbeat.

America has constitutional freedom, which allows for free speech, free assembly and the right to bear arms. With freedom comes risk and responsibility. (Yeah, I know. It's riskier because of Democratic policies that destroyed the family structure and littered the streets with homicidal animals.)

If anything we need to squash the gun culture.
Describe the alleged "gun culture." Give us some examples and document them with reliable (read, NON LIBERAL) sources.

Then explain what parts of the Constitution you would be willing to overturn in order to achieve your "squash the gun culture" goals.

Before you do, READ the Constitution. Might be your first time.

Most of America (mainstream conservative Republicans) have no problem with reasonable gun control:

1. No gun sales to minors.
2. No gun sales to convicted felons.
3. No gun sales to illegal aliens.
4. No gun sales to insane people, (which would pretty much rule out all Democrats.)

The state of Florida instituted a perfect gun control law under Governor Jeb Bush. It was called 10-20-Life. Take a gun to a crime and you get ten years, statutory. Fire the gun and it's 20 years. Hit someone and it's life. That should be the national gun control law. It targets the criminals.

I don't think we're there yet where we overturn the Constitution ("question everyone that posts...") just because something went wrong.

But if you're uncomfortable with the risks that freedom and liberty and the constitution give our citizens, feel free to move to Cuba or North Korea. You won't find any major gun crimes committed there.

Any source I provide you will just dismiss as liberal. So I am not going to play that stupid game.

The gun culture is the NRA implanting the idea that guns are cool and its "American" to own them. It's a stupid marketing scam perpetrated by the gun companies to sell more gun to whoever wants one for whatever reason regardless of their capacity to handle the responsibility of gun ownership.

Governor
Because we have tried for the past 20 years, and it isn't good enough.
I think you want the stellar example given to the world by Cuba and North Korea. You're more than welcome to move to either of those wonderful countries and feel safe.
America has always been the home of the brave. A place with this much liberty, capitalism and a higher standard of living does not come without risks.
You should move. You'd be safer.
