No courage to control guns, including under this administration

The federal government can dispense funds for anything. Counties and cities can then use these funds to toughen up schools. Also, the POTUS can use his influence and speak up for things. For school hardening, he has not done that.
In the real world, (and I live in the real world) the federal contribution to education is around 7 percent, and that has been the case ever since there were public schools. The state provides a little more funding. The County provides (a) the most funding and (b) most of the control. In the state of Florida (which has the best and safest schools in the country) teacher salaries are determined at the county level. I don't speak for other states because I'm not stupid enough to try to work in other states.

This ignorant, unelected racist of a POTUS has no idea where his underwear is, much less useful knowledge of public education. Oh, he'll speak about school hardening, but the only think hardening are his arteries.

The federal government already sends too many regulations to schools for that measly 7 percent. Too many mandates, to many meetings that take teachers out of class, creating a demand for my services.

Right...why ask law abiding gun owners to have a background check done to make sure that the guy they are selling to is a legal buyer? That is so inconvenient...right?
You think those guys had Background Checks!

I'm visiting Colorado and you're going to sell me a gun. A lightly used Ruger 10/22. We've settled on $250. Now what?
you cannot buy a handgun here unless you are a resident of the state. Some gun shops will let you buy a long gun if you are not a resident...most will not, because of the variety of laws from different states....

I'm trying to buy it from you. Let's say I have my Colorado license to drive.

We'd go down the street to the local gun shop, pay $10 for a background check and the gun is yours...assuming you'd pass.
So then I take it out hiking and stupidly take a pot shot at a mule dear with an under powered rifle and out of season. I see a DNR (Dept. of Natural Resource) officer and he doesn't see me. I throw the gun in the bushes. He eventually comes up to me and I deny any knowledge. He sees the .22 and I say it isn't mine.

Now what does he do?

Probably confiscates the gun. It is a misdemeanor here.

So I got away with a misdemeanor hitting a mule dear with a .22? Okay then. ha ha
Let's assume you actually shot a person...now it is a felony...then the police would get involved...and if it is on State land the CBI. You'd be taken into custody and the gun dusted for prints.

If it turned out you were not a legal gun owner....a registered sex offender or known drug addict...or both. Now we go to the records to find the last time a background check was done for a buyer of that gun. Go to the gun shop where that was done and find that I bought the gun and had a check run then...but sold it to you without one.

Now I get charged as complicit in the crime. Let's say I claim the gun was stolen. Now you can either tell the truth about when you bought it and where and identify me as the seller or you take the hit for stealing the gun as well as the other crimes associated with the original shooting. And if I didn't report the theft then I get charged for not reporting it.
