That is complete bullsh*t - we did EVERYTHING the left "demanded."
Placing blame is ironic, considering Trump's comments/lies re: the COVID Pandemic.

10 Of Trump's Most Damaging Coronavirus Lies
Amid a crisis that demands trustworthy leadership, the president has instead sowed chaos, confusion and misinformation.

10. Bonus accidental truth: “I don’t take any responsibility at all.”
At a March 13 press conference, Trump declared a national emergency and, when asked about repeated delays in producing and distributing coronavirus test kits, completely washed his hands of the mess.
“I don’t take responsibility at all,” he told reporters. While this isn’t exactly a lie, it warrants a mention nonetheless.
Why is this a problem?
He boasted that he had the foresight to “close up our country to China,” but Trump failed to take more drastic action that may have slowed the spread of coronavirus in the U.S., potentially saving thousands of lives. His slow response came despite warnings from experts and U.S. intelligence agencies, who warned him in February that coronavirus could be a global danger, according to The Washington Post.
Trump’s rosy assessment of the pandemic’s threat to the U.S. may have been colored by assurances from Chinese President Xi Jinping, who Trump repeatedly praised for handling the outbreak in China. Once Trump’s misjudgment became clear, he turned to another standby ― racism ― and began calling the coronavirus the “China virus.” This week, following a surge of hate crimes against Asian Americans, Trump said he might stop using the term.

Pure political pablum. What did anyone else do that Trump didn't do (that, you know, actually worked)? Answer - nobody!

Trump's gut reaction (treat it like any other communicable disease) was 100% spot on, as Sweden proved.

Trump lied about the seriousness and deadly nature of COVID.
He admitted he lied, it's on video.
Selective amnesia for so many of you still defending Trump.

Analysis: Trump says the pandemic crisis was 'unforeseen' -- but lots of people foresaw it.

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump has repeatedly described the coronavirus outbreak in the United States as a problem that nobody anticipated.
The crisis is "an unforeseen problem" that "came out of nowhere," Trump said on March 6. "We're having to fix a problem that, four weeks ago, nobody ever thought would be a problem," he said on March 11. "It's something that nobody expected," he said again on March 14.
Facts First: Trump is just wrong. The US intelligence community, public health experts and officials in Trump's own administration had warned for years that the country was at risk from a pandemic. Some of the warnings specifically mentioned the possibility of a coronavirus pandemic. And when this particular coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, was identified in China in early January, health experts quickly cautioned it could be a major problem around the world.
"This was foreseeable, and foreseen, weeks and months ago, and only now is the White House coming out of denial and heading straight into saying it could not have been foreseen," Harvard University epidemiology professor Marc Lipsitch, director of Harvard's Center for Communicable Disease Dynamics, said on Sunday.

Again, what should he have done that he didn't do that would have made a difference in light of Sweden's no lockdowns, no masks, no excess deaths experience?

You're not that dense, Trump lied -- he knew how deadly COVID was. He misled everyone to think it wouldn't be serious.
He knew exactly how deadly it was from the get go.
Yet he wants to deny he bears any responsibility for the lack of warnings he should have been forthcoming with.

Again - what POLICY did that lead him to implement or eschew that was inadequate in light of Sweden's no lockdown, no masking, no excess death experience? If we're damning people for lying about covid:

Birx writes “No sooner had we convinced the Trump administration to implement our version of the two-week shutdown than I was trying to figure out how to extend it.”

Birx writes that she “I had settled on 10 (feet) knowing that even that was too many, but I figured that ten would at least be palatable for most Americans – high enough to allow for most gatherings of immediate family but not enough for large dinner parties and, critically, large weddings, birthday parties, and other mass social events.”

Yeah, no jab you're Fired and if in militaty thrown out

So much for MY BODY MY CHOICE

Why is Monkeypox running rampant in Gays?
I don’t know much about monkeypox but it sounds like gay sex is one of the primary transmission vectors today. Anyway, employers and the military have a right to protect the health of those working for them from those who choose to be disease incubators.

EatTheRich

You know you would be all for it if you could get away with it. Or do you support making the vaccinations completely voluntary?
You said something about “an experimental compound” but I think we should require the vaccines that are already tested and proven safe and effective.

EatTheRich

President
Not everyone - but the ones who did had no worse of rates of infections (or excess deaths) than those who did it your way.
Vietnam has had 1 death per 2259 people. The U.S., which is richer, less densely populated, and has considerably fewer visitors from China, has had 1 per 320. That’s more than 7 times the per capita death rate.

Trump was always downplaying the virus and giving unscientific advice to the US. He wanted to be the spokesperson(centerstage)giving updates instead of the experts.
He squandered away sound expert scientific advice substituting his own.
Birx has no favor in my eyes. What she says these days have no merit... too little too late, solely to regain her reputation.

The Facts
This is a complex story, on many levels. We are going to keep focused on what was disclosed in the NIH letter and in the release of grant updates by EcoHealth by the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the Intercept.

Gain of function, in many ways, is basic biological research. It’s done all the time with flies, worms, mice and cells in petri dishes. Scientists create novel genotypes (such as arrangements of nucleic acids) and screen or select to find those with a given phenotype (such as trait or ability) to find new sequences with a particular function.
But it’s one thing to experiment with fruit flies and another thing when the research involves genotypes of potential pandemic pathogens and functions related to transmissibility or virulence in humans.
That’s when gain of function becomes controversial. The idea is to get ahead of future viruses that might emerge from nature, thereby allowing scientists to study how to combat them. But increasingly many scientists have decided the research was potentially dangerous — and, especially in China, not done with the proper safety precautions.

Even now, it’s not clear whether the research funded by EcoHealth in China amounted to gain of function. When the Intercept obtained EcoHealth documents in September, seven of 11 scientists who are virologists or work in adjacent fields told the Intercept that the work appeared to meet NIH’s criteria for gain-of-function research. Obviously, it’s a matter of dispute within the scientific community.
But Cotton claimed NIH admitted that it had funded gain-of-function research. That’s wrong. No such admission appears in the letter, and NIH officials continue to insist that the EcoHealth work using NIH funds did not constitute gain-of-function research.

No covid is not "going away" (as the OP so presciently stated. But what has "gone away" is any interest by the left in continuing to discuss it. If that doesn't prove the whole covid-mania was political, I can't think of what (else) would.
The left wanted to discuss it when an alteration of policy would have led to saving lives. Now we are committed to having done things your way and we just have to live with the terrible consequences.

Contact tracing. Industrial production of PPE years in advance. Not closed the office in China that monitored emerging diseases. Any of the things that countries with FAR lower per capita deaths than the U.S. or Sweden were doing.

How can you say Sweden had “no excess deaths” when their per capita death rate was more than twice the world average?

Should employers fire all Gay disease incubators?

Excess deaths from all causes - not just covid (which theirs was inflated by low mortality rates in the preceding years).

Sweden did things "my way." The places that did them "your way" are the left wing big cities that have stunted the educations of a generation of children, driven up crime (and suicide) rates and led to a mass migration of taxpaying citizens.

What did they do differently? What is Vietnam's obesity rate compared to ours? What is their life expectancy compared to ours? What is their comorbidity rate compared to ours?
