"The recent information about what has been made available in this deal…is shameful, I'm embarrassed by it. I'm angered by it," said Rep. Maxine Waters (D–Calif.) during a press call today. "The way I'm feeling right now, I'm not committed to voting for [the bill]. I have a lot I have to say to leadership."

Strange deal, Manchin voted against BBB the other week

My guess is, push comes to shove, she'll fall in line with the party and vote for it.

In the meantime, voicing her displeasure will play well with her base, which is normally more important to career politicians than the actual consequences of a piece of legislation.

You can state the bolded text above with cosmic certitude. She WILL indeed come to heel and obey the party. No question.

Well, her base will not enjoy their taxes going up or the power of the IRS at their doors

Well, there is one scenario in which she might not: If the bill's passage is virtually guaranteed, she might cast a meaningless "nay" vote in order to appease her base, or possibly even not vote on it at all.

Politics is as much theater as it is anything else.

The 43rd district in California is a pretty liberal place and used to paying higher taxes than many would tolerate.

They might not like it, but they do it.

Water is literally a communist. [Unwelcome language removed] her and her opinion.
She is a capitalist politician. As a communist, my favorite member of Congress. But only because she raises questions that help open the door for communist propaganda. Which she does in order to mobilize people behind reactionary initiatives (gun control, anti-Cuba/anti-communism) by pinkwashing them, and to create a safety valve so her constituents stick with the Democratic Party instead of joining socialist and communist parties.

She wants her free shit, she is looking at this bill and thinking "where is mine"..........

They will buy the moron off just like they did Manchin with a pipeline that will never be built....... way to flush your career down the toilet Joe.... good luck winning your next election when all those coal minors show up to vote your ass out.........

On a side note, this bill is the death knell for an economy that is already on the brink of total collapse........ I look forward to them redefining "failed state" in the very near future.......

My favorites for that..... "A Transistion to Ethiopia"..... or "At least the cows are not farting"...
