1. His first excuse was that he had an automatic declassification policy....That is ridiculous. Just because he walks out of the oval office with a Top Secret stamp on it would not make it declassified.
2. His next excuse was that the boxes of documents were planted by the FBI...which, of course, is fantastically stupid.
3. He then attempted to discredit the DOJ and FBI saying the raid was "unannounced" except that he was handed a subpoena in June....and did not surrender the documents requested.
4. He argued that all they needed to do was ask for them....they did.

Presidential documents are the property of the National Archives, not the president.
Documents classified as Top Secret are subject to rules related to where they may be viewed and stored.

The documents declassifying FBI wrong doing by Trump were never released to the public. Maybe he's got copies and they wanted them back. Hopefully Trump has copies he can leak to some journos.

Are you aware of the Presidential Records Act? Those documents...classified or not are the property of the National Archives...not the president.

What do you think the process is? The president sprinkles the blood of a very rare cheeseburger from McDonalds on it, turning around three times while chanting "Declassify, declassify"....

In fact what happens is the president has his counsel write up a memo stating what and why it is being declassified. That memo is then sent to the agency head who had originally classified it...

The "nuclear" documents are the ones Trump declassified regarding FBI malfeasance that they never released to the public and Trump might have had copies of.
