Voting Now a Threat to Democracy: Ukraine Threatens 5-Year Prison Sentence For Anyone Voting In "Sham" Referendum for Occupied Regions to Join Russia

The real concern is not the corrupt crony democracy that is Ukraine, but what happens when the breakaway republics in the Russian-occupied territories approve a referendum to join the Russian Federation like Crimea did in 2014?

Will the US/NATO-backed Ukrainian forces be insane enough and continue to shell and attack what will then be considered MOTHER RUSSIA territory?

BTW: Putin has already answered that question and here is a spoiler alert:: Load up on Potassium Iodide <link>

Ukraine Threatens 5-Year Prison Sentence For Anyone Voting In "Sham Referendums"
Is it even possible to have a free and fair election in Donbas as long as Russian troops occupy the area and so many residents have fled west?

Granted those with money have fled to the EU or Russia a long time ago.

Putin doesn't have to rig the referendum with 100M spam ballots going into drop boxes and have ANTIFA/BLM activists count the votes since the ethnic majority in that region is more closely tied to Russia than the SOROS/NATO-backed Ukrainian govt.

1. Most of the Ukrainian citizens of Donbas have fled on foot or by train to the west...others have been rounded up and taken to Russia against their will. Why would the pro-Russian population have fled?

2. Where did Antifa activists count the votes? Got any evidence? Nah. Like most of the crap you post, you pulled it right out of thin air.

In the US votes are counted by machine and then, if requested, by hand recounts. In AZ the ballots were recounted by people hired by Cyber Ninjas. What was the result? Oh, they matched the machine counts.

Polls from before 2014 showed that the people of Donbas favored remaining part of Ukraine.

OK. Let's say everything you posted above is true.

When the referendum to join the Russian Federation passes Saturday and the occupied areas become part of Mother Russia's territory (albeit by rigged elections), you do realize that Putin just said that any attack by western-backed Ukrainian forces on Russian territory will be an act of war in which Putin said he would use nukes?

The point is... NATO can claim the referendum is illegitimate all they want. But are they willing to risk a nuke war to prove that Putin wasn't bluffing?

If he were to succeed, what would stop him from then taking over Poland with a threat of nuclear war? What if he were to order the US to pull all US troops out of Europe or he'll nuke London?

Mutual assured destruction requires our willingness to respond to a first use of nuclear weapons with a nuclear response. If he calls our bluff then there is no end to his use of nuclear black mail to expand Russia all the way to the mediteranean.

The what if "Dominoe Effect" I get it.

On Sunday, Russia is going to declare the occupied areas of Ukraine to be Russian territory.

When the US/NATO-backed Ukrainian forces continue to shell those areas, Putin is going to declare that as a direct attack on Russia which Putin flat out looked into the camera and told the world HE WILL USE NUKES. <link>

So your concern about the domino effect in Poland becomes meaningless when the nukes start flying in a month or two.

Is Putin right to threaten nuclear war? I say no. Appeasing Putin will not prevent war. It will simply postpone it.

That is a lesson Neville Chamberlain learned at great cost.

The only reasonable way forward is a revolution that removes Putin from power.
While it is interesting to see progressives invoking revolution and regime change, the problem remains that come this Sunday, any attack by the US/NATO-backed Ukrainian forces on the occupied sector in Ukraine is going to be considered an attack on Mother Russia and will result in a declaration of war where NUKES will be used.

Instead of projecting wishful thinking and the hope for revolution and regime change in Russia, how about we call off all attacks and propose a ceasefire where an armistice can be reached?

As you know, Russia will never agree to a ceasefire since the minute this war ends Putin’s permanent-war regime collapses. There is no way to avert war without regime change.

Doesn't matter if he is right or wrong in threatening nuclear war. What matters is that he just looked everybody in the eye and said he will use nukes if Russia is attacked. Starting Sunday, the occupied territories in Ukraine will be considered Russian territory.

The only difference is this time it was NATO that was breaking its agreements and expanding its borders. This all could have been avoided if Soros/Obama didn't overthrow the democratically elected pro-Russian president of Ukraine in 2014 and installed their Puppet Zelinsky who immediately wanted to join NATO which everybody knew would infuriate Moscow.

Really?

I don't think it's going to be the Russians freezing in their homes this winter and unless there is regime change in Washington DC, nuclear war before Xmas is assured. But hey, what better way to "build back better" right?

Yanukovych was overthrown by a mass popular uprising in 2014 after attempting to illegally remain in power contrary to the nation’s constitution. Zelenskyy was democratically elected in 2019.

In other words, you support Putin’s nuclear saber-rattling because you think it gives you leverage to promote your preferred party’s political interest which is of bigger concern to you than the threat of nuclear war to which you contribute by agitating for knuckling under to Russia’s threats.

Why would "WE" call for a ceasefire? That would be up to Ukraine. If Putin stops his army from fighting the war would end. It continues only to allow him to save face.

Starting Sunday, Putin will consider Eastern Ukraine to be part of Russia....nobody else will.

Nato had no agreement with Russia. In any case, Ukraine was not about to join Nato.
Putin has been claiming Ukraine had no right to exist as a sovereign nation. Claiming Ukraine was about to join Nato is a red herring....and you can continue to blame someone other than Putin all you like. It would still be a lie.

Sorry, but pointing out that Putin was very direct in telling the US/NATO backed Ukrainian forces that if they continue to shell, bomb and invade Russian territory that he WILL use Nukes does not mean I support Putin.

I just don’t have a deathwish for civilization to defend a crony democracy that threatens 5 years in prison for voting.

Doesn’t matter if nobody considers the Eastern Ukraine a part of Russia.

What matters is Putin does and if US/NATO continue to supply Ukrainian forces with the weapons used to attack Russian claimed territory, Putin is going to use that as a pretext for war where he promises to use NUKES..

Even if just 1 nuke is used, USA is the big loser. Here is why…

Best case scenario of 1 nuke being used for the first time since WW2 will bring a halt of all trade, Wall Street will crash, a run on all food in grocery stores and most likely a halt to all financial transactions. AND THAT IS THE BEST CASE SCENARIO!

Worst case scenario is US/NATO and Russia have full nuclear exchange. Americans won’t stand a chance.

Fvck “Mother Russia”, and fvck that gutless murderous punk Putin. Donbass and Crimea are part of Ukraine. Any traitor who lives in those parts of Ukraine can get the hell out and move back to Russia. I am sure the Ukrainians will lead them to the border, open the gates and give them a kick in the ass on the way out. As for Putin and many of the animals who participated in this illegal, murderous campaign in Ukraine, they should all brought before a war crimes tribunal and hung or shot. It’s not up to NATO, it’s up to President Zelenskyy and the free people of Ukraine.
