As far as Trump, he was also the media darling throughout the whole primary season and most of the general both of which he won by receiving total access to all networks. He was on morning Joe 3-4 times a week and every network featured him constantly. Once he started to rile up his animals at rallys to attack them, yes the press fired back at him and started calling him down on his pathological lying, sure. If anyone else would have lied to and attacked them the press would have done the same.
