These midterms have given those with courage to finally: Dump Trump.

Bugsy McGurk

I am highly doubtful that GOP leaders have any such courage, but we shall see. Trump has maneuvered them into a corner - support him and his Big Lie, or face his wrath.

They should do now what they should have done on January 7 - agree with each other to stick together and oppose Trump’s madness. Trump’s ability to exact revenge will be greatly diluted if they stick together.

Just a few days ago you were in denial about the importance of Trump

Now you see that he is an Issue.
Odd. That's not what that says. It says the Dems have been ignoring the principal issue. Not that Trump is the principal issue. You don't see the game? The economy blows, Americans are in trouble because of inflation, and the only thing anybody can apply as a solution is to say Trump over and over again.

That's not me claiming Trump is important

The electorate clearly stated that Democrats are the better choice to handle inflation.

Would showering the petro industry in hugs and kisses make inflation go down?
No, the answer is no.
Their feelings are not driving inflation.

If there's decency left, any sort of soul or courage to shed the toxic....now would be a good time..
Or we could see the Trumplicans double down. Marjorie Taylor Greene gets the gavel and calls for Trump to be speaker....

Just when you think we are making progress, don't underestimate the power of megalomania.

The right-wing media complex won't allow it.
Trump makes for good TV, and high levels of engagement.
Here is my prediction:

NY Post cover today has a demeaning cartoon and headline reads TRUMPTY DUMPTY. Next step, Hannity, Tucker, Laura start trashing Trump or the Murdoch’s fire them. Then he will be tossed into the bowels of the nut net, NEWSMAX and OAN and made a joke of by any sane people.

Many of the super Trumpists on this board will either leave or ooze away from him slowly. I see this already happening. The problem for Republicans is that they will lose a large sector of their voting bloc if they admit Trump is a lying sack of shit and a conman. It should be interesting to see how this transition unwinds.

I think the right-wing media would be stupid to do anything till after the 2024 primaries.
They have a vested interest in making the primaries as entertaining as possible.
They want a Trump vs. De Santis match up. They want the ratings. They want a shit show.

It depends if Trump decides to take on DeSantis and or Youngkin and possibly Cheney. If that happens it will be the greatest shit show on earth. I would LOVE to see that primary unfold. Comedy Gold….

I feel a bit lightheaded. Maybe you should drive.

Well to be honest Jack, if the Republicans had repudiated Bush (before Trump) I don't think it would have made a difference in how I voted over the years. Same goes with Trump. It's the policy agenda, more specifically the relative differences in the two parties' agendas, that drives my vote.

But having said that, I just listened to Rick Santorum present a master class on the logic for abandoning Trump to Rob Schmitt. It was a compelling argument. The sooner the better (obviously).

There were some bright spots for the Republicans, and they can come storming back in 2024. But not if Trump chooses to burn the party down on his way out the door. He needs to understand that the only way he retains any of his remaining power as a political figure is by accepting his role in this defeat and promising to support the MAGA 2.0 candidates like DeSantis & Youngkin, as well as the newcomers like Mike Lawler, who just sent Hillary and Soros' representative (and DCCC Chairman) Murphy to the unemployment line in NY's 17th.
