Notebooks

Per NBC:

Notebooks that President Joe Biden wrote in during his time as vice president are among the items the FBI took from one of his Delaware homes during a search there last week, according to a person familiar with the investigation.

The notebooks were seized because Biden’s notes on some of the pages relate to his official business as vice president, including details of his diplomatic engagements during the Obama administration, and may refer to classified information, this same person said, adding that the notebooks do not have classified markings on them, but some of the handwritten notes inside them could be considered as such given their sensitive content.

Other pages in the notebooks, while they may not contain potentially classified information, could still be considered government property under the Presidential Records Act because they pertain to official business Biden conducted as vice president, according to the person familiar with the investigation.

The notebooks include a mix of handwritten notes from Biden on various topics, both personal and official, according to the person familiar with the seizure. On some pages Biden wrote down things about his family or his life unrelated to public office, said this same person. On other pages, he memorialized in writing some of his experiences or thoughts as vice president at the time, according to this same source.

The number of notebooks Biden kept is large, according to the person familiar with the details, but they did not know the precise number.

At a minimum, very sloppy.

Trump sure doesn’t have to worry about his notebooks being taken. He never writes things down. He even bashed his lawyers and aides if they wrote things down. To Trump, that is the creation of evidence of his wrongful conduct.

Do you know how those notebooks would have been classified? Biden would have to have submitted them to be classified. If he had classified them, he could also have declassified them.

Add to that the notebooks were probably in a filing cabinet and to have read through them upon moving out of the VP office and residence to check each and every page before packing that stuff up clearly wasn't done and the lack of a classification marking would seem to say they were not classified at all.

A little different from the documents in Trump's desk which were in folders marked TOP SECRET.

The point is that the law talks about Knowingly removing government documents and having the intent to prevent their return. Something Trump admits and is yet to be seen in Biden's case.

Sloppy? Yup, absolutely. Irresponsible? Yes. Criminal? Probably not.

Irresponsible without question.

I handled classified material during my time in the service. One thing they make very clear - You are on the hook if anything goes wrong.

Biden is as guilty as Trump. No excuses.

Sure, intent is the key under the law. But ignore that. In Trumplandia, “Biden is as guilty as Trump.”

"Probably not", bolded or otherwise, is not a fact...It is an opinion.

All relevant facts were considered. Personal opinions were given substantially less weight, as it should be.

Ergo, your assertion is false.

Of course, if one is a Human Shield. :)

I feel fortunate to not feel compelled to carry water for either one of them.
I am totally feeling that as well. They BOTH need to be held accountable equally for their screw ups.

ergof*ckyourself....
My assertion is based on the word for word quote from the law.

Whoever, being an officer, employee, contractor, or consultant of the United States, and, by virtue of his office, employment, position, or contract, becomes possessed of documents or materials containing classified information of the United States, knowingly removes such documents or materials without authority and with the intent to retain such documents or materials at an unauthorized location shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for not more than five years, or both.

It’s rather liberating to be a well-adjusted, normal person isn’t it? I can’t imagine how much it would suck to relegate one’s life to eternal party servitude… but at least you get the bonus of toggling on emojis for every post that doesn’t smooch the preferred backsides.
