Could Desantis Rich Superpac Become Democrats' Best 2024 Weapon ?

It looks like the Ronald Reagan eleventh commandment: "Thou shalt not speak ill of another Republican" has been forgotten by Republicans in both Trump and Desantis camps, as the 2 very well financed campaigns are already talking shots at each other. Tonight on the Eric Bolling Newsmax show, Desantis fired a few shots at Trump, including Trump's alleged friendliness with Disney. With Trump being Trump, one can easily see a litany of disparaging attacks on DeSantis.

This is bound to be damaging to whomever turns out to be the Republican candidate, with every bash adding up as ammunition for Democrats to use in the summer/fall of 2024. I have said all along that a best Republican ticket would be Trump/DeSantis. DeSantis has ZERO experience being POTUS, compared to 4 years for Trump. Trump is well skilled at dealing with the DC swamp, for which DeSantis would be a green rookie.

With Trump running for president, and DeSantis for VP, DeSantis could then get 4 years of experience in the White House and federal govt, preparing him well for 2028.

If you are a hiring employer, do you hire the guy with no experience on his resume, over the one with 4 years of experience ? (and a successful track record). You can't always get what you want (Rolling Stones used to say), and this looks like a classic case of that.

As an American I look forward to a giant turd throwing contest between these two idiotic lightweights. No mater which one of them comes out on top for the GOP nomination the winner will be beaten soundly in the general and lose dozens of seats in congress and several in the Senate. I think independents and sane Republicans are fed up with this MAGA shitshow and will come out in droves to get rid of those who still cling to it. 17 months until Election Day and a lot can happen in that time but the way it looks now I think the old GOP is going down the crapper.

Yep and sure as hell after the Bernie Turd fight, she got beat in 2016, lost the House and the Senate. The little scrap between her and Bernie will look like a pillow fight next to what Trump and DeSantis are gearing up for. And if Trump loses, he might run as an independent just to spite little Ron. I love a good mudslinging contest. Like that Will Farrell movie. I’m looking forward to a real comedy show between these two nit wits. Laughter is the best medicine.

I got the last 2 badly wrong this early in the election cycle, but I don't think either one has a chance of winning the 2024 election. Trump has a very slim chance of even getting the nomination, unless the party is completely split and there are 3 major candidates. He is all but certain to be serving the remainder of his life (unless pardoned) in prison for very serious crimes for which the nation has seen undeniable evidence thrown in its face. DeSantis is too right-wing and too easy to dislike to get more than the "vote the way your pastor tells you to" vote and the oil-millionaire vote, except in the event of a fascist counterrevolution for which the political conditions probably will not have matured by 2024, and for which DeSantis will probably not be the preferred demagogue anyway. In the event Trump could somehow have a chance to win it is likely that DeSantis would not be a winning choice as running mate. Given Trump's criminal liability and tremendous unpopularity, it seems likely that only a crisis-driven radicalization of the populace could buoy him to success (unlikely but not out of the question), and that likely means either a sharp pivot to the social-democratic left signaled by the choice of a running mate like Keith Ellison (more likely in my opinion, and probably an alliance cemented by a deepening of antisemitism) or a fascist appeal (which would also of course inevitably involve a deepened commitment to antisemitism, likely accompanied by other forms of scapegoating) for whom the running mate could be DeSantis but would more likely be someone like Joe Arpaio or Stewart Rhodes whom big fascist cadres have already come to trust.

I am not underestimating Biden's vulnerability but if his health holds out he will probably survive a primary challenge and beating either Trump or DeSantis, much less Trump/DeSantis, looks like a lay-up unless things change drastically. If the Republicans want a pair of candidates who can beat him, their best bet would be something like Mitt Romney/Liz Cheney, if not for the near certainty such a team would lose a lot of votes to a pro-Trump third party run. So they need a team that can hold together a coalition of Trump voters and swing voters, something like Chris Sununu/J. C. Watts or Tim Scott/Mitt Romney.

'oil-millionaire votes'

Oil money is one big reason, although it’s unlikely many of the oil barons will actually vote for him. It is also to win bankers’ money and popular votes due to the oil barons’ chokehold over the economy.
