yep, nothing to see here, move along, ignore it and it will go away, just like trump says-

meanwhile, back in reality today, Monday, the 9th

The S&P 500 crash fail safe protocols were triggered in the early morning hours, when future/premarket trading hit their down limits. two reasons for this:

1. Traders leave preprogrammed stop loss orders in their accounts. But nobody puts computerized automatic buy orders in. Those stop loss orders are being triggered during after hours trading as the market sinks lower and lower.

2. Asian investors are dumping US stocks. "In times of crisis, capital comes home." Over the last 39 days the us markets are down TWICE AS MUCH as the Hang Seng index.

Wrong again kid, the Saudis dropped the price of oil off the board....

That's true. That doesn't mean that the effort does not in some way mitigate. So it's worth doing.

Given your stance, which is appreciated, I'm optimistic that you'll stand with me clarifying for those that think the Trump will simply stand at a microphone and solve it, or that because pence is in charge of it it's stopped, or whatever other inanity of the day it's being bandied about.

so we're clear, you're of the mind that nothing's really going to stop it, and I'm of the mind that it can't hurt to help mitigate the spread by doing such things as keeping clean and washing hands and not coughing at one another but the Trump is in an impossible position, such that there is no way to stop this thing, only mitigate. Is that where we are?
Yup.

how exactly were you expecting us to be prepared? I just finished replying to your prior post where you said it's impossible to be prepared
Cuba is better-prepared than any other country because they do regular drills where everyone in the country prepares for a novel virus outbreak of various sorts and everyone is (relative to Americans) well educated on virology and epidemiology and has a job to do and everyone is working together to isolate the virus and keep society functioning.

So? And who gives a shit? is there people have also been known to dive into the ocean and attempt to swim to Florida, dying along the way. So it's not all sweet smelling roses in Cuba. I hear they're famous for their cars from the 50s, know why? Because their economy has been static since the 50s and they can't afford a God damn things are they spend all their time drilling for viral epidemics that don't come

meanwhile this society has its checks and balances in place to keep its own society functioning in the face of epidemic, it's called washing your hands, getting a job, going to work, and contributing to society. PS don't cough in your neighbor's face. And while you're at it don't shit in the street

Going to work won’t stop the virus from spreading; quite the contrary.

Cuba has higher GDP growth rates than the U.S. for 12 of the last 20 years and growth rates more than triple the U.S.’a for 5 of those years. If their economy is “static,” what does that make the U.S.’s?

Cuba GDP in 1970 (current U.S. dollars) $5.9 billion ...15 times as high now as where it was. U.S.’s GDP in 1970 $5.0 trillion ... 4 times as high now. You are discrediting Cuba based on the poverty they inherited from their capitalist past while ignoring the rapid progress toward wealth they are making now.

Not sure how you can stop 1.4 billion people from harvesting food.
A bullet in the head? The CCP has done it before and this time those non-party members who don't enjoy eating locust style more than being virus free just might help pull the trigger.

Yeah, but rent is capped at 10% of that (for the minority who don’t own their own homes), medical care and education are free, a 1400-calorie daily ration is available for free and the rest of the food costs about half what it costs here ... so that $18 goes a lot farther than it would in the U.S. and a hell of a lot farther than the $2 a day that is the median wage in the capitalist world.
