I haven't seen the video, but he DID break the sound barrier, according to my newspaper this morning. Got up to Mach 1.2 or something around that....Wonder if any high-flying birds saw him on the way down, and were thinking to themselves, WTF?!?!

GREAT footage of the beginning of the jump and the step by step preparation. Not the curvature of the Earth and his obvious nervousness.

This man has nads of steel.. note also that when he approaches 700 mph he went into a spin. The spin was very dangerous. Had he blacked out it would have been all over.
