Bizarre creature found in 200-million-year-old cocoon

Here's a weird science story.

A leech laid a cocoon 200,000,000 years ago in an ancient river in what is now Antartica at a time when the continents were bunched together. A microorganism attached itself to the cocoon and was turned into a fossil.

The headline of the story read: Bizarre creature found in 200-million-year-old cocoon.

I was expecting something bizarre.

The weird thing is I recognized exactly what it was.

Had to wonder to myself if the mucus was like the mucus on a slimy snail.. not likely, but was thinking something beneficial could be hidden in the mucus that has a potential to protect wounds. Then again probably not, a possibility, if like in the case above it would be fossilized. Interesting how well preserved it was though!

My goodness,, the eye on that squid was the size of a dinner plate! It was just plain spooky..
