Compromise: Keep the Electoral College and get rid of winner take all in awarding electoral votes.

Do you really think that voting (i.e. democracy) for representation on a commission is MORE partisan than individuals selected by party affiliation by politicians? Yeah, no.

Have commision seats assigned to a party (or no party) but have the people vote for who fills those commission seats. Get rid of back room deals. As a matter of fact communications between elected officials and commissioners could be made illegal.

I want the district drawing algorithms voted on and made public. I want courts relegated to less than observer status.
Try showing an "algorithm" for congressional districts. This should be good.

Bush the globalist chose that statement to finalize the transfer of his soul to the communist camp. That is the globalist-communist camp. Did you see who was surrounding him as he said that?
Try a remedial class on civics or history....you don't seem to know what communism is.

A communist is found in today's Democrat party. That or a globalist.
So your definition of communist is anyone who is a member of the democratic party....
So you'd encourage people to think all republicans are fascists....right?

Your use of such labels is silly. Communism is an economic/social system with clear dictates and policies. The bottom line is that you simply use that label as an insult, but don't know WTF you are talking about.

Partisanship comes from having parties that can create stronger than ordinary support for a party or person. There are many, many people called independents who vote not on the basis of partisanship, right? Voting itself is NOT partisan because then they would call it partisaning and not voting.
The undecided are the only nonpartisans in an upcoming election. They only make up a small part of the electorate.

Interesting world that you live in but the definitions are just yours. They aren't shared by the common reality of the rest of us I don't think.
So you don't vote for the party you support ? When did you ever vote for the party you oppose ?

What is that again? What would happen?
That voters would use partisanship in selecting the members of the group that would draw the maps.

No. I don't want the people who draw up the boundaries of districts to be selected. I want them elected. Your idea would be to send us back from democracy and back to the time when state legislatures selected the state's Federal Senator directly and was not voted in by the people. As much as possible should be subject to election. The days of selection went away with the loss of the Christian faith in this country.
You've seen this before, maybe ?

When groups are partisan, they will do what is best for their group.

They really sell you guys on Frank Luntz's words.
He makes up a phrase and you people never even question the validity of it.
You just parrot.

How is the party that supports the globalist agenda of corporations not the globalist ?
The Chinese are Communist. I don't know of any party that aided their agenda more than the GOP.

Your GOP created their industrial sector by shipping the jobs to their country.

Luntz, like the remaining Koch brother, realized they've created a monster and are now retreating from the results.

He is of no use to Dems.

They don't play that game.
He's always been a crypt-globalist-communist. He been an operator for a long time. And finally got outed in public.

All the more reason we should just assign a bunch of random zip codes in a state to each representative...no need to have a contiguous district.

Wait ?

Then you might end up with people representing a district in which not only do they not live, but they may not even have been to the zip codes they're representing.

So?

Here is a map of every congressional district:

See that pink area in Texas that goes from San Antonio to the Border? Do you think the representative from there can adequately represent both groups--the urban and the rural? Do you think the rep from Montana visits every part of their state? Likewise for the guy whose district in Idaho goes from Nevada to Canada. It's a farce. It is what it is.

No system is perfect and that can't be fixed.

What can be fixed is that currently we have a system where the elected officials choose what voters they want to represent. This is done by congressional lines being drawn down one street or the other for purely political purposes--gerrymandreing.

What would work better in my view is doing it by zip code.

Just for the sake of demonstration; you have 10 reps and 1,000 zip codes. Take the 100 most populated zips and make them category A. The next 100 most populated and make them category B. The next 100 most populated and make them C and so on. Assign, at random...10 from each category to each represntative. The codes are drawn without differance to political party or race. They're just there for efficiency. Everyone ends up with pretty much the same nose count. Easy.

So the guy who grew up and lived his life in high rises should represent and understand the wants and needs of a farming community ?

Or a guy grew up and lives in Beverly Hills should represent people's whose main concern is poverty and at risk youths ?

When it comes to govt people who live around each other often have the same problems and likely would like people who understand their experiences.

Is that like how Obama was a "Secret Muslim" ?

The most ridiculous thing about Republicans is how much they try to distance themselves from Republicans.
Obama has a soft spot for Islam unless he's posing by drone striking Muslims so that he doesn't appear to be a "secret Muslim". Thank God, he's gone and only behind the scenes.
