as seen on tv
Senator
I have to apologize. For more than a year I have mocked and derided the easter bunnies and other childlike advisors in the Westeros Wing. They all too often come across as refugees from the film “Idocracy”, lacking even the most basic understanding of Game of Thrones politics (“You either win or you die”).
All that was left in the dust last week when the FBI conducted a stunning “unannounced” raid on Trump's Florida home, with media present and cameras rolling.
Ahem . . . let's go over the checklist for this reality TV scene:
1. Dozens of heavily armed SWAT team members? Check.
2. Nobody actually home, because authorities made certain the Trumps were in NYC for the weekend? Check!
3. Forced entry? Check
4. The best GS13 safecrackers government money can buy? Check!
I honestly don't know what was in Trump's safe. If it WAS “nuclear secrets”, or highly classified intelligence info, our former President should already be in jail. A week has now passed, and here's what we still don't know, and what doesn't add up.
- Who the “safe leaker” was. Of course, since the FBI hasn't even been able to discover who leaked those draft SCOTUS opinions, so I'm not holding my breath on this oner. Remember, the FBI is always COMPLETELY above partisan politics, even though it's part of the Department of Justice, headed by ab Attorney General who is a political appointee of the president of the year appointee.
- The documents were supposedly already declassified. But then again, maybe they weren't. But if they WERE declassified, who is it that's now claiming the President doesn't even have this sort of authority, while he was still in office? If he doesn't have the authority, why was no legal challenge to the declassification ever made prior to the “unannounced" FBI raid? My head is spinning.
- Trump's lawyer “certified” - in a written document, in June – that all classified documents had been returned in January, as per the subpoena. If this is a false certification, why hasn't this attorney been charged as a coconspirator, or an accomplice after the fact?
- What documents were actually recovered last week? They were either marked top secret, or they weren't, Mr. Garland. It's easy enough to tell. Stop whining about the FBI raiding agents being possibly being identified and “put at risk”. Isn't the primary question what was seized?'
- The timing of this certainly smells bad. We just had months and months of “January 6th hearings, which petered out with no Trump charges. Just like the 4 years of “Russian Collusion” senate investigations. Whenever a partisan political TV show is cancelled, there always seems to be another one already green lighted and scripted to fill the free time slot, doesn't there?
I repeat – if the evidence is real, and Trump DID put our national security at risk, arrest and arraign him at once!! I'd do it in a heartbeat myself.
Don't try and drag this out until after the November elections, just to hold onto congress.
In the Game of Thrones, either your win or you die.
