Blackmail victims often deny being blackmailed. The “transcript” released by the White House speaks for itself. Biden extorted Ukraine, as instructed by the administration and following the law, to gain advantage for the United States …. Trump extorted them, illegally, to gain personal advantage.

Shokin was not prosecuting Hunter Biden. He was not investigating Hunter Biden and Ukrainian officials have affirmed that there was never grounds to investigate Hunter Biden. He was not investigating the company that employed Hunter Biden or its CEO, and he had promised in writing that he never would. (On the other hand, his replacement immediately began an aggressive investigation of them.) Evident corruption of this sort is why the IMF refused to make loans to Ukraine unless Shokin was fired … which left the U.S. unable to arm Ukraine in anticipation of Russian aggression … and why the U.S. (including Congressional leadership from both parties), UK, EU, and Ukrainian anti-corruption groups were all publicly calling for Shokin’s ouster before Burisma ever hired Hunter Biden.

Yeah. The U.S. government (State Dept., Senate Foreign Relations Committee) and many others had long demanded his firing, and the Obama administration was aggressively working to get him fired before Hunter Biden ever got that job at Burisma. And even though firing him meant that Ukrainian prosecutors would stop ignoring the company that hired Hunter and start scrutinizing it with an eye to criminal charges, Joe Biden continued to aid the administration efforts to fire him anyway.
