FBI Director Chistopher Wray on "insurrection"

Boca

Governor
FBI Director Christopher Wray punched a sizable hole in the Democrats’ narrative about the Jan. 6 breach of the U.S. Capitol complex. He reminded Democrats that the event was nothing like the “horror” of 9/11. He taught them that the word “insurrection” has a precise legal meaning and that he can’t use the term in the same way that Democrats hug the word. He also noted that there were three groups at the Capitol that day, and not all of them were committing violent crimes.

I've said that over and over.

While Americans are more concerned with violence in their neighborhoods, especially if they live in a Democrat-controlled city trying to defund the police, the leftists in Congress want to focus on the violence at the Capitol that occurred on Jan. 6, 2021.

Democrats have excused violence and mayhem in American cities for the last year. They have advocated to release leftist rioters from jail. Democrat prosecutors have dismissed charges.

Kamala Harris encouraged support for a Minnesota organization that help raise bail for those charged with rioting after the killing of George Floyd.

In that context it must have been jarring to Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee to hear Wray state clearly that the Jan. 6 incident was not comparable to the “horror” of the terrorist attacks of 9/11.

They appeal to the visceral by calling the Jan. 6 incident an “insurrection” even though they know the legal definition is not met.

Democrats, even in the Judiciary hearing, argue that the rioting for the past year is merely a series of peaceful protests and simply an exercise of First Amendment rights, but paint everyone who came to the Capitol on Jan. 6 as “insurrectionists” attempting to take over the government.

“Comparing” the January 6 attack to other events is a subjective exercise.

What is not subjective is the fact that Trump and his cronies orchestrated and incited a massive group of his deranged rabble to violently seize the Capitol in order to halt the constitutional process of certifying the electoral votes by use of force.

You people seem to be too horrible to admit how horrible that is.

Deplorable!

Biggs is simply nuts. Who is comparing the January 6th riot equivalent to 911? I haven't heard that comparison. I also think it is nuts to say anyone has said there should not be arrests of those who engaged in rioting last summer. There were a substantial number of people who were arrested for simply violating curfew.

While there were people demonstrating on January 6th and did not actually break the law...they did not attack the police, they did not break into the Capitol building...just like the many BLM demonstrators or supporters who marched in various cities around the country...they did not engage in vandalism or arson. They did not loot businesses.

So when Biggs suggests federal prosecution....what would that be for? What federal crimes were committed? What democrats encouraged violence as the president did on January 6th?

As far as his whine about Harris encouraging people to contribute to bail for demonstrators arrested...if the judge issued bail then what is your complaint? If the arrest was for arson or murder there should not have been bail at all...

So here was the exchange in which 911 was mentioned...

Rep. Steve Cohen, a Tennessee Democrat, brought up the topic as Wray testified before the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday, telling the FBI chief, “You’ve compared ransomware to 9/11. Ransomware is awful, and it’s a problem. 9/11 was awful. But the insurrection on our Capitol, unlike anything known since the Civil War, is also awful. Where would you compare the insurrection, and would you admit that it was an insurrection on our Capitol,
with the assault on our country on January 6th"

Cohen clearly said the insurrection was unlike anything since the civil war...he did not say it was like 911.

I noticed the HILL skipped over this part of Wray's testimony...

Wray confirmed there was no evidence of widespread voter fraud days after Trump lied about it again
New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker asked Wray if he agreed with then Attorney General William Barr's announcement last year that the DOJ had not uncovered evidence of widespread voter fraud in the November election.

"I agree with Attorney General Barr," Wray said.

"We are not aware of any widespread evidence of voter fraud, much less that it would have affected the outcome in the presidential election," he added.

a violent uprising against an authority or government.

Make the case that Trump’s murderous mob was not engaging in insurrection.

Good luck.
There were no murders except for one protester murdered by Capitol police. No matter how you try to paint it, you can’t cover up that fact. The protesters murdered no one.

They attempted to kill the police officers they attacked with flag poles, sharpened hockey sticks, baseball bats and police night sticks they'd taken from officers that they'd swarmed and beaten.

Officer Sicknick would probably still be alive...even though the cause of death cannot be traced back to damage done by hitting him with bear spray or a blow to the head.

It cannot be dismissed that the rioters attempted to kill democracy in this country.

Once again...nobody said the Jan 5th riot was equivalent to 911.

Not all of the people who attended Trump's pre-riot rally participated in violence...thousands did.

You’re repeating the same drivel, without so much as even quoting Wray.

Try to think on your own - address what I said.

Here is the transcript of the testimony by Wray on Mar2nd. Where did he teach them about the meaning of the word "insurrection"?

PS. I found another time Wray spoke on June 15th. Wray starts at 25:30.
questions begin at 1:00:30

So you are against BLM?
Here was my post:

They attempted to kill the police officers they attacked with flag poles, sharpened hockey sticks, baseball bats and police night sticks they'd taken from officers that they'd swarmed and beaten.

Officer Sicknick would probably still be alive...even though the cause of death cannot be traced back to damage done by hitting him with bear spray or a blow to the head.

It cannot be dismissed that the rioters attempted to kill democracy in this country

Which you edited down to this:

They attempted to kill the police officers

It cannot be dismissed that the rioters attempted to kill democracy in this country.

Your dishonesty in editing the post you are responding to precludes a response to your question.

Not possible, Democracy died Nov 3, 2020 and was buried last Jan 6th. There's a plot reserved for Lady Liberty alongside.

Democracy was alive and well when voters decided to elect Biden. The allegations of fraud should not have been made without proof and there is none. Trump's own AG said so.
