The Republican Governor of Texas imposed a month long stay-in-place order, then ordered minimal easing of those restrictions until at least May 18th. Just like ensuring that the working poor remain poor by paying them poverty wages, and buying off politicians to refuse to raise the minimum wage and to cut back on funding for social services. They force the working poor to turn to social services such as food stamps so that taxpayers subsidize the poverty wages so they can reap ever more profits. Then they shame these same working poor for needing the social services in the first place and yet call them 'essential workers' and force them to risk their lives to work to feed their families during this crisis while they themselves stay safely tucked away at home. All this is done in service to their god, Mammon, who is more important to them than human lives.
