Feds place order for 100,000 more body bags

And another order for 200 refrigerated truck trailers to store corpses.

Just in case anybody was under any delusions - Trump and his GOP colleagues know they are opening things up without the proper precautions, and they know widespread carnage is coming our way, making the carnage to date look like a walk in the park.

Here it comes.

What makes you think “Lefty” loves the carnage being brought about by Trump and the GOP?

Note how insane your thought process is - your cult leader Trump and your GOP cult are pushing for policies to increase deaths, opponents of your cult oppose those policies, and yet you claim that those opposing those policies are the ones who love death. In other words, you turn reality upside down and inside out.

Surely you can see how your GOP cult has destroyed your mind, no?

Yes, wait until needed instead of before by chance needed and then libs would whine he didn't order soon enough.

Wait, that's already been whined by libs of mask.

NYC just hauls bodies off in back of pick-up trucks and video showed workers standing on dead bodies while unloading them! What about the bodies stored in Uhaul trucks w/ice!!

I feel a bit lightheaded. Maybe you should drive.

I'd say the palpable giddiness of your post, but then, that's just how it comes across. Maybe you meant to use a more subdued tone and just forgot?

The fact is that we have to open the economy (indeed, our society) back up or the deaths from the economic carnage and the untreated medical conditions (not to mention the potential civil unrest) will exceed the covid-19 total.

It is obvious that we have "lowered the curve" which was the, you know, stated objective of the closures. If the goal was actually to tank the economy, because it was Trump's biggest electoral asset, thereby giving the Democrats a better chance of winning the Presidency in November, you should have told us that up front, instead of trying to sneak it in after we have already achieved the stated objective, because we're not, you know, stupid.

They want to open things up because the god Mammon, which they refer to as 'the economy' is what they worship. Profits over people's lives is the calculus they've made. They believe that because saving lives by continuing the isolation will 'kill the economy,' they have decided it's better to kill people. They point their fingers at those of us who want to keep the lockdown in place until it's safe to lift it as a 'death cult,' but that's so they can avoid the truth that is right in front of their face: they have chosen saving the 'life' of the economy over saving actual human lives.

The idea that we can continue to keep the economy (in fact, our entire society) closed, well, indefinitely, is inane. The spike in deaths associated with economic depressions is well documented. So for you to focus only on the covid-19 deaths, and ignore the deaths that will result from the coming economic depression is duplicitous. We know that 99% plus of the people who get covid-19 will pull through and be fine. So on what basis does the less than .5% who will die from it, the vast majority of whom already have one foot in the grave (so to speak) from multiple co-morbidities and advanced age, and their friends on the left who find political advantage from a continued closure, demand that the rest of us sacrifice our futures in service to their need to be kept alive for a few more months, and provide their candidate with better electoral chances in November?

It's not indefinitely, it's until it's safe. The government could do as other governments are doing and provide American citizens who need it cash to survive for the next few months. It's a question of money or lives. For you, money is more important than lives - as long as those lives are not yours. As you wrote: 'rest of us sacrifice our futures in service to their need to be kept alive.' You set up as us-v-them (us = keep our money, them = die so we can keep our money). I bet you think that sounds like something Jesus would preach.

You think $1,200 will last a person for months and many-many haven't seen the $1,200 yet.

16,000 as of yesterday reported to have died in Nursing Homes, they were not outside and still died and why aren't we reading of 10's of 1000's of homeless deaths? Modoc county in Cali has not had ONE case of C-19 and reopened yesterday, just because you don't need money doesn't mean unemployed don't.

The stated objective was to "flatten the curve". The curve has obviously been lowered, but how much is not obvious. I know we have to ease the restrictions. Otherwise, there is nothing to go back to. The Republican Governor of Texas imposed a month long stay-in-place order, then ordered minimal easing of those restrictions until at least May 18th. Do you think his goal is to "actually tank the economy"?

Too bad he didn't order masks when needed instead of just staring at his so called "empty cupboard" and hoping wishing the virus away would circumvent the problem.

No I don't think $1200 will last anyone for very long. It's far too little and a one-time payment isn't going to keep anyone in their home. The federal government needs to use its resources to shore up American citizens not big businesses.

The unemployed do need money. What they don't need is to have to sacrifice their lives to get it.

bd, Cali beaches were over flowing with probably 100's of 1000's last weekend, I haven read anything of a Spike in C-19 in Cali, yet, beaches again closed. We haven't flattened the curve, we've flattened health care and IMO staying inside is making people sick.

How's your work load?

I read 'big business' bank owned/controlled restaurants were shamed into returning $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and I agree, next time govt wants to send $billions to foreign countries that $$$$$$$$ should be sent to citizens.

It businesses fail, citizens will not have jobs to return too.

I guess fathers/mothers need explain it to their kids while moving under a local bridge due to no work/money.

It's less than 2% dying and appears majority already had one foot in a grave. I can't fathom while anyone wants another Great Depression and the one coming will make the first one look like a picnic.

This has been discussed as nauseam. Obama depleted these and never replaced them. It's not something that could be done in a week.

I believe they fear an economic rebound right before the election will benefit Trump politically so our nation's economy and livelihood are okay to sacrifice in a hope to stop him.
