Feds place order for 100,000 more body bags

Obama had a Congress committed to mindless obstruction of everything he attempted, including efforts to secure the funding needed to replenish the stockpile. Trump, on the other hand, had two years of perhaps the most obsequious Congress in history and could have had the funding for the asking.
We've been over this time and time again. It's like dealing with children on these discussions. Obama never even ATTEMPTED to obtain funding to replenish the stockpile he frittered away. Had he dropped the bloated welfare projects and tried to obtain funding for replenishment of the PPE that was depleted instead he would have had GOP backing. He didn't even try. His welfare projects were more important. We all are suffering the consequences now.

Trump had 3 years and specific advance warning.
Did your friend Harvey the giant rabbit tell you that or just talking shit?

"advanced warnings".....…..what 2 weeks
How many mask did you buy in Jan?
Left wingers ALWAYS try to use the benefit of hindsight to proclaim what they "knew". There is no way Trump could have replenished the supply in 2 weeks...especially with the spike in demand. Impossible. With all his responsibilities as President this wasn't even something on his radar. The previous guy as he was frittering them away should have taken simultaneous action to replenish. He refused and here we are.

It really is bizarre that they try to blame Trump on something that was obviously Obama's doing. These are mentally ill people.

McConnell is recorded as bragging that the only thing he cared about was keeping Obama from being re-elected no matter the cost to the American people. He committed to a strategy of opposing anything the President requested, including when the President rolled over and endorsed Republican legislation without reservation, modification, or qualification, and the Republican leaders in Congress demanded that the party immediately repudiate the same legislation they had pushed for weeks, months, or years because they couldn't compromise with Obama under any circumstances, including accepting his abject surrender (of course that didn't stop Obama from trying to give Republicans everything they wanted again and again and again).

Obama's "bloated welfare projects"? Obama not only introduced no new welfare programs (except Obamacare which reduced net federal spending, thus freeing up more money, money which the White House specifically requested be used to fund the PHS, a request Congress voted against because it came from the Obama administration), he cut access to welfare despite the prevailing depression conditions, thus simultaneously laying the foundation for the general economic misery today and keeping increases in federal spending to the lowest they had been under any President since Eisenhower.

No, I'm looking at how Congress acted for two years and how any member of the Republican majority (such as John McCain) who dared to stand up to Trump (as McCain stood up to Trump's efforts to kick millions off health insurance) was hounded relentlessly.

First case reported in US of H1N1 on April 17th 2009.
Obama declared a national health emergency on April 26th 2009.

First case of corona virus infection on Jan 20th 2020

Trump declares national emergency March 13th 2020.

Before then he was still telling Americans it would go down to ZERO.
Wow. That's a despicable post. Why lie?

Trump declared a national HEALTH emergency on January 31, 2020. He declared a full blown national emergency on March 13, 2020. Obama didn't declare a national emergency until the fall of 2009.....6 months after H1N1 first struck. A virus that would go on to infect nearly 1/3 of all Americans (or possibly up to 90 million) in its first 12 months. A flu virus that we had an easy vaccine for.

Had H1N1 had the lethality of the Spanish flu on the young and healthy the nation would have been devastated. Fortunately, its lethality was no different than the ordinary flu.

Your lying and falsification of facts to distort the truth is not welcome here, special one. This odious behavior is appalling.

Trump was warned in detail before taking office and had 3 years to deal with it. Obviously he wasn't overwhelmed with other responsibilities given that his normal work schedule involved 2 hours of productive meetings 5 days a week, with the rest of his waking hours set aside for watching TV, golfing, holding rallies, and tweeting.

Cool opinion....but doesn't address anything I said. Obama never even ATTEMPTED to get funding to replace the PPE he frittered away. Had he attempted to do so and dumped the bloated welfare projects in exchange he would have gotten GOP support. Remember, the budget has to go through regardless of the makeup of Congress or the WH. It's just coming to a "deal" to make it happen. Obama never proposed funding for it because he didn't care. He left it to the next guy to "find" as a pandemic was starting. Egregious dereliction of responsibility as POTUS.

Trump was never "warned" until a pandemic was unfolding in the winter of 2020. Just saying something because the facts piss you off doesn't make it real. Second, why would Obama "warn" someone about something he refused to do something about himself for 8 years? Laughable. This is squarely on Obama and no amount of lies or twisting of the facts changes it. Obama did nothing and left it to Trump to find. This was the result.

No way in hell he would have gotten GOP support for anything but dismantling environmental regulations, cutting taxes for the rich, or giving money to rich conservatives. Not a goddamn chance. In my opinion (as opposed to my last post which was all factual information and simple inferences from facts).

That said, Obama failed us. The responsible course of action would have been to build up unions to the point where they had the power to impose their will on the country, by encouraging every manifestation of progressive struggle by them. Obama, as the representative of the bourgeoisie, had to do the opposite and bend over for the GOP while breaking strikes and crushing unions.

I feel a bit lightheaded. Maybe you should drive.
The economic effects of the quarantine have proved beyond a doubt that labor, not capital, creates wealth. What capital does is hold access to jobs hostage to corporate profits and pay taxes using a portion of the wealth gotten through parasitism on labor.
It takes organized labor to produce wealth (on the scale necessary to support a society). Whether that is a co-op, guild or business. And regardless of which organization is used, it takes capital to make it productive.

And the first people to bitch about it? Saying it was Xenophobic, and blah blah blah, : Democrats !!! It's what we do!

We had 3 Democrat debates after that and NOT ONE QUESTION ABOUT THE VIRUS. NONE.

I suppose we should expect Trump to fire the person who let the press know about the feds ordering 100,000 more body bags.

Trump's muzzled the scientists at CDC. They used to have press conferences. He stopped that. The CDC investigations and recommendations to the meat processing plants that have had spikes in COVID infections.....have been neutered.

It's so Republican.....hiding facts from the public. Not to mention gaslighting to disinform the public.

And the WHO was way out in front of Trump with its announcements...

Nevertheless, Trump blames the WHO.

This WHO?

The World Health Organization (WHO) is now haunted by a tweet it sent earlier this year when it cited Chinese health officials who claimed there had been no human transmissions of the novel coronavirus within the country yet.

The Jan. 14 tweet came less than two months before WHO declared COVID-19 to be a global pandemic.

From the beginning, since the first outbreaks became widely known, the World Health Organization has advised against blanket travel bans. The WHO has also warned that travel bans could violate the International Health Regulations.

Yes, that WHO.

Your distortions aside, they were way out in front of Trump with their announcements. I gave you the timeline.

Right?

Trump watched cable tv, golfed, held rallies, tweeted for a good 6 weeks while Covid-19 ran amok.
