For Anyone Who Thinks Hamas Are The Good Guys

Israeli police are using forensic evidence, video and witness testimony and interrogations of suspects to document cases of rape amid the October 7 Hamas attacks on Israel.

Women and girls caught in the rampage were brutalized sexually, as well as physically tortured and killed, witnesses to the aftermath say.

Police Superintendent Dudi Katz said officers have collected more than 1,000 statements and more than 60,000 video clips related to the attacks that include accounts from people who reported seeing women raped. He added that investigators do not have firsthand testimony, and it is not clear whether any rape victims survived.

About 1,200 Israelis were killed and more injured that day in villages and farms near Gaza when Hamas militants struck across the border in coordinated attacks, taking more than 240 hostages and precipitating the current war. More than 11,000 Palestinians have been killed, according to authorities in Hamas-controlled Gaza.

I assume that based on the same logic you'll conclude that the U.S. also aren't "the good guys."

You blame the victims of Israel's ethnic cleansing for raping their occupiers? All the violence in Palestine today stems from Israel's racist occupation, If you have any actual concern for women in Palestine, tell the Jews to stop imprisoning and abusing the women and children of non-Jews in Palestine.

The occupation is a major source of violence, but so are capitalism, rival Arab nationalisms, imperialism, and the patriarchy. The transformation of Israel into a secular binational democracy would undermine these intertwined systems of oppression, but would far from guarantee an end to these hierarchies and their concomitant chronic violence.

In any case, weaponized rape is a vicious war crime that directly enhances the patriarchy, which is a system of oppression more ancient, more constitutive of everyday life, and more fundamental to the alienation of humans from ourselves, each other, and our potential than any other. Anyone who would excuse it on political grounds stakes his ground firmly on the side of reaction.

Rapists all deserve punishment or death if their victim is capable of that level of self-defense during the attack.

Israel is the rapist of Palestine, and, hopefully, Hezbollah, Hamas, Iran, Turkey, Syria, and Jordan will exterminate the rapist before next November.

So Syria can take Israel's place regionally and Turkey can resume its hated role as Middle Eastern hegemon? I would critically support any or all of those powers in a war against Israel, but I would much rather see Israel (and Hamas and Jordan) defeated by actual (passably) good guys like the PFLP.

PFLP sounds like a big improvement over Likud:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Popular_Front_for_the_Liberation_of_Palestine

"The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (Arabic: الجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين, romanized: al-Jabhah al-Sha`biyyah li-Taḥrīr Filasṭīn, PFLP) is a secular Palestinian Marxist–Leninist and revolutionary socialist organization founded in 1967 by George Habash.

"It has consistently been the second-largest of the groups forming the Palestine Liberation Organization, the largest being Fatah.

"Ahmad Sa'adat, who was sentenced in 2006 to 30 years in an Israeli prison, has served as General Secretary of the PFLP since 2001.

I didn't say Hamas--a capitalist party--were good guys. Far from it.
