Game on: North Korea is going down

Trump and Xi Jinping must have come to an agreement on North Korea, because China just lined the North Korean border with 150,000 troops. If I was a betting man - tell you about that some day - I would say it went down like this...

TRUMP: Here's how fast our guided missile Destroyers can attack.

Xi Jinping: What about your Cruisers?

TRUMP: Same, but more of it.

Xi Jinping: Nice, but let me do the invasion and occupy.

TRUMP: Deal!

Will the US try to denuclearise North Korea by force? - Inside Story

N. Korea vows response to 'reckless' U.S. move, says ready for 'war'
AFP - Monday, April 10, 2017

SEOUL, South Korea — North Korea denounced Washington's deployment of a naval strike group to the Korean peninsula Tuesday, warning it was ready for "war" in a further escalation of tensions.
The Carl Vinson strike group cancelled a planned trip to Australia this weekend to head to the region, in a show of force as Washington signalled it may act to shut down Pyongyang's nuclear capabilities.
"This goes to prove that the US reckless moves for invading the DPRK have reached a serious phase," a spokesman for the North's foreign ministry said according to state news agency KCNA.
"The DPRK is ready to react to any mode of war desired by the US," he said, using the country's official name, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
President Donald Trump, fresh from ordering a missile strike on Syria that was widely interpreted as a warning to North Korea, has asked his advisors for a range of options to rein in Pyongyang, a top US official said Sunday.
Trump has previously threatened unilateral action against Pyongyang if China -- the North's sole major ally -- fails to help curb its neighbour's nuclear weapons ambitions.
But Pyongyang's response suggested the reclusive state is determined to continue on its current path, despite repeated rounds of United Nations sanctions.
"We will take the toughest counteraction against the provocateurs in order to defend ourselves by powerful force of arms," the foreign ministry spokesman said.
"We will hold the US wholly accountable for the catastrophic consequences to be entailed by its outrageous actions."

- Sixth test? -

Speculation over an imminent nuclear test is brewing as the North marks anniversaries including the 105th birthday of its founding leader on Saturday -- sometimes celebrated with a demonstration of military might.
Pyongyang is on a quest to develop a long-range missile capable of hitting the US mainland with a nuclear warhead, and has so far staged five nuclear tests, two of them last year.
Satellite imagery analysis suggests it could be preparing for a sixth, with intelligence officials warning it could be less than two years away from achieving the ability to strike the continental United States.
Seoul and Washington are also currently conducting joint military drills, an annual exercise which is seen by the North as a preparation for invasion.
South Korea's top nuclear envoy said Monday after talks with his Chinese counterpart that the two nations had agreed to "strong" new measures to punish Pyongyang if it carried out another nuclear test.
The talks came shortly after Trump hosted Chinese leader Xi Jinping for a summit at which he pressed Beijing to do more to curb the North's nuclear ambitions.
"(We) are prepared to chart our own course if this is something China is just unable to coordinate with us," US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said after the summit.
US National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster on Sunday criticised North Korea as a rogue nation engaged in provocative behaviour and said denuclearisation of the peninsula "must happen".
"The president has asked them to be prepared to give us a full range of options to remove that threat," he said on Fox News, apparently referring to Trump's advisers.
South Korea's Unification Minister Hong Yong-Pyo said Monday that the repercussions of a potential military response were worrying.
"Pre-emptive strikes may be aimed at resolving North Korea's nuclear problems, but for us, it is also related to defending the safety of the public," he told reporters.
While a US unilateral strike on North Korea from a shorter range might be more effective, it would likely endanger many civilians in the South and risk triggering a broader military conflict, experts warn.

China might push N. Korea into behaving. But N. Korea isn't going down. North Korea is a buffer for China. If it somehow merges with S. Korea, then China has a nuclear foe on its border. If N. Korea merges with China then there's still S. Korea right there.

China needs N. Korea to exist to be that buffer .

I doubt we will de-nuke N. Korea. It will always be a standoff.

Now...............what china should do is get rid of little Kim.....same way lil Kim got rid of his family members.

We will strike North Korea, we will take out all their missile silos, all their Air Force, all their tanks, most of their artillery, we will kill their lone submarine, and China will rush in to "rescue" them and stabilize the government. Dear Leader will probably go the way of Gadafi. China will set up a puppet government.

It's all good.

I'm just an armchair quarter-backing observer, but it's the only sane way to explain what I see happening around the planet.

Xi Jinping is an Iowa Hawkeye - got his degree in Agricultural management. He is facing internal opposition from the hard line ex-president, same way Trump is facing hard line opposition from Obama and Clinton. The ex-president in China is tight with this nutcase in North Korea, so it helps Xi to dismantle that juggernaut. Of course, we have to be the bad cop, but we are fine with that role.

I hope that's how it comes down.

Xi Jinpang visited Iowa for two weeks in 1985.

He has a degree in Chemical Engineering from Tsinghua University in Beijing, and a Humanities degree from that same institution.

http://www.chinavitae.com/biography/Xi_Jinping|303

...He wanted to visit "old friends" he'd met on a trip to Iowa almost 30 years ago.

Rewind to a time when Mikhail Gorbachev was ascending to the leadership of the Soviet Communist Party, Terry Anderson was taken hostage in Lebanon and Tiananmen Square was just another place in Beijing. Xi arrived in Muscatine for two weeks in April 1985 with a Chinese delegation looking into farming technology.

The future Chinese leader got a first-hand look at how American capitalists do agriculture.

Doyle Tubandt, president of Muscatine Foods Corporation, recalled how Xi discussed globalization, its scope then unimaginable to many Americans.
Tubandt marveled at today's global economy. His own company now exports food and pet products to China.

Back then, he escorted Xi on a tour of a corn processing plant. At times, the language barrier was hard to overcome. How do you translate words such as centrifuge? Tubandt gestured heavily and drew drawings in the sand to explain things to his Chinese visitor.

He kept a tin of black tea that Xi presented to him as a memento of the visit. After all these years, the tin is preserved half full...

Yeah, that's the story... I messed it up. I write these posts from memory, I almost never research before inserting hoof in mouth... I'm usually in a hurry, here... mistakes happen.

How about our 3rd fleet and 7th fleet hanging around in the South China Sea or those 150,000 Chinese troops rushed to NK border over the weekend? Did i get those right?

Breaking News - USS Theodore Roosevelt Conducts Flight Operations, Southern California

Is anybody keeping count???

Would you believe there will be a dozen aircraft carriers wrapped in a half dozen task groups operating in the South China Sea or East China Sea within say, six to nine weeks. Those task groups are huge too, way bigger than the normal stand alone carrier group sent around the planet. Plus there are killer subs and nuclear subs... from all over the planet.

Let's not forget fighters, bombers, and drones that have been sent to airfields in South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Guam, and the associated tankers for refueling in mid-air.

Add in the Air Forces of Japan, South Korea, and you have air power on an unprecedented level being amassed in the area. Unprecedented - as in - unprecedented in human history.

BATTLE OF TSUSHIMA (off the Korea coast, 1905

Russian dead: 4,380
Japanese dead: 117

Russian naval losses: 34 battleships
Japanese naval losses: 3 PT boats
people do not realize how powerful the Japanese Navy is. There is more to Naval presence than just physical force; the Japanese know how to fight, they make the most of what they have, they are master strategists.

In world war II, the Japanese owned the night, it was late in the war before the American Navy learned how to fight at night. When you see the designation CV, that's a carrier, when a carrier could carry on night operations, it became a CVN... the N was added to designate the carrier can operate at night. The Japanese were operating at night years before we learned how to do it.
