Mar 13, 2020 · President Donald Trump declares a national emergency

Presidential Powers: National Emergency

Unknown to most Americans, a parallel legal regime allows the president to sidestep many of the constraints that normally apply. The moment the president declares a “national emergency”—a decision that is entirely within his discretion—more than 100 special provisions become available to him. While many of these tee up reasonable responses to genuine emergencies, some appear dangerously suited to a leader bent on amassing or retaining power. For instance, the president can, with the flick of his pen, activate laws allowing him to shut down many kinds of electronic communications inside the United States or freeze Americans’ bank accounts. Other powers are available even without a declaration of emergency, including laws that allow the president to deploy troops inside the country to subdue domestic unrest.
Trump invoked the Stafford Act:

everything is in order? nothing was looted? burned? ordinary citizens were perfectly safe?
Not even close to the riots of the ‘60s. A little civil unrest is commonplace in America after several atrocities are committed against its citizens. The police and the peaceful demonstrators have done a great job in stopping the looting and destruction.

Thousands have been arrested and very few people killed. What Trump and his goons did in LaFayette park was however, an act of violence against peaceful protestors exercising their 1st amendKent rights. It was a disgusting spectacle especially because it was done to clear a location for Trump‘s idiotic bible waving publicity stunt.

I sincerely hope that anybody who was hit by those flash bang grenades or rubber bullets sue the Federal government and whoever was responsible for giving those orders for violations of their civil rights under the US Constitution.

It’s one thing for a mob of street criminals to take advantage of a peaceful protest and use it as an opportunity to steal and vandalize. It’s a whole other ball game when a President orders a crowd of US citizens to be illegally attacked while excercising their rights. That’s what General Mattis was talking about.

They have done a great job. The peaceful protestors and the police working together have restored order in America. The last thing we need s idiot Trump to stormtrooper America and start a bloody street war.
They did little to nothing to restore order until Trump threatened to send in troops.
