Gov. Brown: CA Obamacare is $1.2 BILLION over budget

Shocker, I know...

Democratic California Gov. Jerry Brown warned on Tuesday that his state's Obamacare program will cost California taxpayers $1.2 billion more than the state originally budgeted for.

"I'm proud we did it," said Brown. "But we also have to take into account this thing is growing."
Brown said the state's Obamacare exchange, known officially as Covered California, and the state's Medi-Cal expansion represent "a huge social commitment on the part of the taxpayers of California."
As the Los Angeles Times reports, "Although the federal government picks up the tab for any patients who became eligible for Medi-Cal under the Affordable Care Act, the state is still responsible for half the price for people who were previously eligible but hadn't yet signed up."
Last week, the nonpartisan Legislative Analyst's Office reported that California faces $340 billion in debts, or more than $8,500 for each of the 38 million people who live in the state.

California is fortunate to now have a Governor who understands fiscal responsibility.

He is making headway in restoring California's economy, which had been damaged by Republican faith-based policies regarding revenues and basic arithmetic.
Mr. Swimmer,

Every California elected office, with the exception of the Governor prior to Brown, have been held by Democrats since 2000, and both houses of the State Legislature have been controlled by Democrats since the early 1990s, including the super majority which was elected in 2010.

So you see, it is the Democrats faith based policies regarding revenuse and basic arithmetic which has destroyed the California economy.

Sorry to ruin your premise, but you really should do your homework.

From a spending standpoint, the governor is nearly irrelevant in California anyway. More than 85% of our state spending is non-discretionary, meaning it is locked in from bonds and ballot measures that have been voted on in the past. These ballot measures and bonds were largely put in place by left-wing progressive state senators and representatives, and many were passed with massive backing from DNC/Soros-owned interests (as well as a healthy dose of the election fraud that is rampant in California). So, even if the governor were to slash every penny he is legally allowed to cut, it would make little difference to the massive debt currently drowning the state.

Mr. Martian,

He makes one good point, i.e., that Jerry Brown is a fiscal conservative, and hugely popular, so he was able to get his spending programs through the legislature. Schwarzenager continually tried to get his proposals through, at one point, putting them on the ballot, but the legislature, and in the case of the ballot, Democratic voters, shot him down at every turn.

All they'll need to do is to rescind some of the tax breaks that they've given themselves over the years, or eliminate services that they still expected to receive -- in spite of no longer paying for them.
