Governor Walker recently made three appointments to the State Pension Board. One of the men he appointed had been on the board before, appointed by another Republican Governor and had been kind of forced to resign. What the man had done when on the board in the past was to push for and vote for an investment in a company that he owned stock in. The investment lost the state pension fund 80 million dollars. When the state began to investigate he resigned and the state dropped the investigation. Now Walker is once again trying to appoint him to this board. When he before the committee being questioned he assured them this would not occur again. He tried to blame the previous problem on "staff". Appointing this man to this board is like appointing a accountant to a job with your company after he had stolen money from you the last time he worked for you. The final straw that might actually break the camels back in this situation is when a teacher talking to the committee pointed out that because of the business the appointee owns and is involved in, by Wisconsin Statute, he can not be appointed to the board and his previous appointment had also violated state statutes. The Republican head of the committee said they would have to hold off on approving the appointee until this was investigated. This is why many independents in Wisco have problems with this particular Republican Governor. He seems to be in such a hurry to pass his agenda, i.e., the one given to him by the Koch Brothers, that he fails to even check which things are legal and which are not.
