How long will it be before right wingers somehow try to blame infection rate \ deaths in states run by Republicans on Democrats ?

If Obama were president, he'd have begun organizing the international community in January to prepare to issue stay-at-home orders to their countries....on the same day....world-wide.
Nah, he would do what Joe did. Scream that any calls for a Chinese travel ban were racist......and then he would say 3 months later that he was just kidding. Facts matter.

The fact is that Obama handled multiple pandemics and an unprecedented superstorm relatively well, given the low bar for a president in such a situation, while similar events under Trump’s leadership have led to catastrophically worse outcomes.

Obama faced no pandemic the likes of this. A pandemic that has frozen the globe. Nothing. To even suggest otherwise is egregious and downright laughable. You certainly know how to lie, however.

It was largely due to Obama responding so differently that Ebola didn’t get like this when he was president.

Please stop deceiving the forum, it's getting old

A public health emergency gives agencies in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services flexibility in how current funds and personnel are allocated. A public health emergency lasts for only 90 days—so these are very temporary shifts in resources.

A national emergency is declared under the Stafford Act. This applies to the entire federal government. This can mobilize multiple agencies.

No authority

Governors have "broad discretion" to restrict and police movement within states, such as the 43 states with some version of a stay-at-home order have done, Shapiro noted. But while the president could recommend that all citizens stay at home, or recommend that all governors issue such an order, the president's own authority to issue such an enforceable directive isn't there.

"The president could shut down airports and ports and the interstate system potentially and things like that," but the president has no general authority to restrict citizens as they go about their daily lives, Shapiro said.

On the other hand you may be right since Obama never thought cared much for our Constitution anyway. DACA for example. Or the ACA " individual mandate".

One of your fellow wingers was here claiming that Trump declaring a public health emergency(NOT a national emergency) on Jan. 31 proved he was on top of things. Does he get held to a different (lower) standard?

So Trump is responsible for the outbreak in Italy, Spain, UK, and nations across the globe? C'mon, we lefty isn't intelligent by his very nature but don't make it look more so.

Lefty must lie for his derangement to make sense. It's who he is.

No....they're different.

Secretary of Health and Human Services Azar, not Trump, did declare a public health emergency on January 31. Which allows him to take actions as he sees fit.

On March 13 President Trump signed a National Emergency Declaration.

Two different documents; two totally different affects. A National Emergency Declaration gives a President far more powers; for example giving orders to private enterprises, say production quotas. Not sure, but I suspect he ordered the 3 month IRS delay for filing taxes.

Who knows how much less serious it would have gotten if Trump had worked to aggressively contain it in China the way Obama worked to aggressively contain Ebola in West Africa.

So, by your standard, Trump did nothing till March?

Ebola is not Covid-19. How contagious these two are is not even close. And the CDC was not allowed into China while the WHO was tweeting the virus couldn't spread person to person. Trump made a public health declaration, formed a task force, banned travel and had the CDC working aggressively to combat the threat. Obama's henchmen, like Biden, were screaming xenophobia over the ban while producing no viable alternatives themselves.

Facts matter. Your lies do not.

They are pretty close. Ebola has a reproduction number of 2.00. COVId-19 has a reproduction number of 2.79, making it about 40% more contagious.

CDC was not allowed into China because of Trump’s Cold War on China. Different policies would have resulted in different outcomes.

WHO said on Jan. 21 ... ten days before Trump’s declaration of a public health emergency or travel restrictions, and 8 days before he formed the Coronavirus task force ... that there was evidence of “sustained person-to-person transmission.”

The CDC was on top of it as much as they could after years of budget cuts. But they could only do so much, especially with the threat of politically motivated reprisals if they said the wrong thing.

No, they aren't. There weren't 100,000+ cases in 50+ countries in a matter of weeks. That's not even close.

Give the criminals a pass because someone held them responsible for their atrocities. That is "mean". HIlarious.

8 days? ROFL. Thank you for proving my point. You mean the travel ban Biden and Dems called racist and said wouldn't help? I suppose they had a better answer? Yeah, they did. Continue to push a hoax impeachment.

The CDC was on top of it as much as they could after years of budget cuts..
Trump signed bills that gave the CDC more funds than anytime in history to fight novel and emerging infectious diseases. Continuing to repeat this lie doesn't make you appear sane.

Now the facts:

When you can address the fact feel free to post. Not going to continue to address the lies and conspiracies.

There might well have been tens of thousands if not for the effective intervention of the U.S., Cuba, Doctors Without Borders, etc.

No, I was pointing out that your excuse depends on complaining about prisoners being held accountable.

Biden and the few Democrats who agreed with him were wrong about the travel “ban.” The fact remains that the left was calling for more important, proactive measures that Trump wasn’t taking.

No, he didn’t. The left is on record warning that his cuts were leaving us vulnerable.

The fact: Fox and Trump have changed their tune much more than Democrats or other mainstream media.
