1. The question "Do you use illegal drugs" is the issue. Not background checks.
2. Universal checks in Colorado have resulted in thousands of ex-felons attempting to buy guns and being denied. I just sold 10 rifles and two handguns...each and every buyer passed a background check. At least two of those buyers smoke pot...but checked "No". Do I think pot smokers are too dangerous to own guns? No. Did the appeals court agree? Yup.
If drug use should exclude someone from buying a gun then get your congress people to introduce a requirement for a drug test.
