Too many times, Republicans have spent entire elections talking about silly scandals or taking silly, counter positions to whatever the liberals offer.

How about talking about the issues? I don't care about Benghazi, I don't care about John Kerry's military service. Tell us how you're going to fix the country. Tell how you will end the military state while lowering crime. What's your plan to fix healthcare? The drug problem? These are important issues, not Hillary's emails.

Our governor Larry Hogan (R) just got reelected in a mostly democrat state. Why? He ran on fiscal issues and not social ones. We love him here because he actually lowered taxes, fees, fines, tolls while reducing spending and improving our school system. Larry even increased spending to help save the Chesapeake bay. He was not a big fan of Trumps tax cuts because the cuts messed up state taxes when we already had a balanced budget.

Be like Larry - fiscal responsibility without the birth certificate.

Governor Larry Hogan Announces Fiscal Year 2017 Budget
Provides Record Investment in Education and Positive Tax Relief, Holds Line on Spending

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Governor Larry Hogan today announced his Fiscal Year 2017 Budget, which is both fiscally responsible and balanced; it controls spending while fully funding all education formulas and all legislatively mandated spending.

The FY 2017 operating budget totals $17.1 billion, and includes a Rainy Day Fund balance of almost $1.1 billion and a cash balance of $449 million going into FY 2018. In 2015, the Hogan administration inherited $5.1 billion in accumulated structural deficits, including a $2.1 billion deficit in 2015 and 2016. Over the course of the last year, almost 90 percent of that inherited $5.1 billion deficit has been eliminated. The governor’s proposed budget continues to build on this progress and provides for sound fiscal management in future years.

“Our proposed FY 2017 budget brings fiscal restraint back to Annapolis and holds the line on spending, while increasing funding for top priorities like education and infrastructure,” said Governor Hogan. “I am hopeful that this budget will set the stage for bipartisanship, while helping us clean up problems of the past, take care of our current issues, and make provisions for a better future.”

Governor Larry Hogan Announces Fiscal Year 2018 Budget
Responsibly Holds the Line on Spending, Provides Record Investment in Education, Allocates $1 Billion in Reserves

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Following a bipartisan briefing for the fiscal leaders of the Maryland General Assembly, Governor Larry Hogan announced major items in the administration’s fiscal year 2018 budget, which will be officially submitted on Wednesday, January 18. The governor’s FY 2018 budget responsibly holds the line on spending without raising taxes, cutting services, or raiding special funds. The budget leaves $1 billion in reserves and continues – for the third straight year – to fund K-12 education at an all-time record level.

The administration’s proposed budget is 100 percent structurally-balanced and immediately addresses current revenue volatility the state has experienced, while positioning the state to remedy future revenue shortfalls by spending less in General Funds in FY 2018 than in FY 2017.

“The budget we are announcing today decreases general fund spending in real dollars. It doesn’t just slow the rate of growth, but it actually spends less than last year’s budget, while still fully funding our priorities, including record funding in K-12 education for the third year in a row,” said Governor Hogan. “We are able to accomplish this with no new taxes, no cuts to services, and without raiding dedicated special funds, and once again, this budget is 100 percent structurally balanced.”

Governor Larry Hogan Announces Fiscal Year 2019 Budget
Responsibly Holds the Line on Spending, Provides Record Investment in K-12 Education, Allocates Nearly $1 Billion in Reserves

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Governor Larry Hogan today announced major items in the administration’s fiscal year 2019 budget, which will be officially submitted tomorrow, Wednesday, January 17. The budget responsibly holds the line on spending without raising taxes, cutting services, or raiding special funds. The budget leaves nearly $1 billion in reserves and continues – for the fourth straight year – to fund K-12 education at an all-time record level.

The administration’s proposed budget is 100 percent structurally balanced, adheres to the legislature’s Spending Affordability guidelines, and continues to deliver on the promise to grow our private sector, put more people to work, and turn our economy around. The budget also ensures that Maryland’s most vulnerable populations have access to critical health care services and other important programs, and curbs the growth of legislative mandates.

Face it.
What ever either party promises ..........are lies told to get elected. So it doesn't matter whether candidates run on promises or on scandal.......... we just have to vote on the one we think will be best and say horrible things about the other one (ones).

For the president election, I do look at the person's political history. That does count no matter how old it is. How Hillary handled Benghazi does show us how she would handle an emergency if she was our president and, frankly, it was scary and reeked of ineptitude and unnecessary death.

I am not a fan of Trump as a person. Never was. I voted for him because he was the alternative to Hillary. I voted for Trump in the primary because he wasn't a real Republican. I have no use for the far Right holding the presidency any more than I have for the far Left holding it.

But when arguing here..........scandals are the most fun and most Leftists can't talk policy. So scandal it is.

That's probably not gonna happen here in PJ. I think we have one other member who is from Maryland and I know we used to have another. All politics isn't local in PJ either. My recollection too is the northeastern states have a history of electing Democratic legislatures and Republican Governors and other executive offices. Michael Steele was Lt. Governor of Maryland. National Republicans hate him now because he talks about issues and stays on-topic.

No, not everyone is a liar. If you run on fiscal responsibly and then deliver, that's not being a RINO, it's conservatism at its finest.

Time to drop the silly crap issues and the outdated social issues and run government like the business that it is.

Jen, I've looked at Benghazi any way you can - Hillary did nothing wrong. It's hot-button, nutter-fodder for the tabloids, but please, don't get started on that nothing burger.

Thank you for the reply, but I was talking about the political landscape - not PJ.

What are the liberals offering? They'll have the House starting in January. What's their plan on taxes, the economy, health care, immigration, and crime?

If the Democrats here respond on something other than Trump hate I will discuss that. Democrats don't seem to have anything other than hatred for Trump to post about even if Republicans post on issues. Even that turns into Trump hate the minute a Lefty enters the thread.

This board isn't very good when it comes to the discussion of issues.

This thread isn't about Democrats in PJ or Democrats in general.
