There was not a mob of hundreds attempting to break into the capitol. It was just a few people near the door with hundreds outside, milling around protesting.
I don't know who these people are.
I hve seen 10 videos. None are clear about the visibility of Babbit's hands, although it is likely that her hands were visibile as she was holding onto the window's frame.

With Brown, the hands disappearing wasn't the issue. Brown attacking Wilson, and going for his gun was the issue.
The people who were the targets of her and her mob were in the next room. So I guess these folk violently "milled" there by accident.
Wilson gun was already out, pointed at Brown and shooting at him.
