Lumber out performing Gold

Lumber Prices Are off the Rails Again. Blame Climate Change. (msn.com)

Screaming CLIMATE CHANGE reminds me of the boy that cried WOLF
Environmentalism Is Plutocratic Hoarding

The artificial shortage driving up lumber prices is all because of the Treehuggers' restrictions. The Totem cult is secretly funded by the petrochemical companies so that plastic will replace both forest-product building materials and paper.

Why didn't the forest companies stop them? Remember, they are owned by stockholders, not lumberjacks. They could easily sell their stock to suckers who don't have inside information and get out before being overwhelmed by the oil companies and the toxic GreenHead clique.

Contractors can't even get bath tubs, hell to make this short Very little of what's needed to build homes and the cost of new homes have buyers unable to buy

From your link:

Since 2018, a one-two punch of environmental harms worsened by climate change has devastated the lumber industry in Canada, the largest lumber exporter to the United States. A catastrophic and multi-decade outbreak of bark-eating beetles, followed by a series of historic wildfire seasons, have led to lasting economic damage in British Columbia, a crucial lumber-providing province. Americans have, in effect, made a mad dash for lumber at the exact moment Canada is least able to supply it.

2018 yet problem is now 2022
Canada's problem now is vax mandate for truckers and hauling their lumber a big problem since many truckers don't want the Jab and this is not going to help Biden's "great economy" leftist post of

Portland, the Home of the Trailblazers, Has Been Taken Over by GreenHead Trailblockers

If it weren't for the Treehuggers' restrictions and lockdown of half our forests, we wouldn't need Canadian lumber, so your explanation is not important.

Inflation is currently at a 40 year High. You agree??
Yeah, it's approaching those Reagan highs we had under Republicans, not there yet though.

Inflation and supply chain issues are also a problem around the world right now because we are emerging from a pandemic. The US economy is the only one that has bounced back to normal capacity. I supposed you'd rather have the Trump era depression rather than the Biden top dog in the world economy.

But, Spam….we are in the here and now, no? Instead of worrying about how things were for Reagan 40 years ago (but…but but…lol) how about you address our current situation, one in which has happened under Biden. Focus….

Not really much you can do to address it.
Production and other economic activities stopped during the pandemic, and the consumer side of the economy restarted faster than the supply side of the economy did.

Money chasing fewer good = inflation.

Pretty simple formula

when interest rates are low new building at a high
interest rates rise - homeowners stay put and remodel

So any good contractor prepares for this. Commercial building stays pretty consistent and avoids the big highs and drops. This is why we stay 75% commercial when possible.
Commercial projects use metal studs - not really affected by Lumber prices - except when lumber is short and contractors switch over. Steel studs save money, clean up, no bug decay, lower insurance rates, etc etc. For those that keep harping on lumber prices, the end user consumer is the main purchaser when price go way up. Hope this helps the unknowing, uninformed " experts"
