NFL to play a (ahem) Black National Anthem before first week games.

I'd never heard it before...
Were you thinking this song is full of racist sentiment and hatred for whites?

Lift ev'ry voice and sing
'Til earth and heaven ring
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty
Let our rejoicing rise
High as the list'ning skies
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun
Let us march on 'til victory is won
Stony the road we trod
Bitter the chastening rod
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died
Yet with a steady beat
Have not our weary feet
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered
Out from the gloomy past
'Til now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast
God of our weary years
God of our silent tears
Thou who has brought us thus far on the way
Thou who has by Thy might
Led us into the light
Keep us forever in the path, we pray
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee
Lest, our hearts drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee
Shadowed beneath Thy hand
May we forever stand
True to our God
True to our native land

Curious about “true to our native land”?
Are they referring to the United States?
I ask in all seriousness.

What are you people so damned terrified of?
What’s wrong with uniting people? What’s wrong with “one nation under God?”
Why so divisive? Why pretend this nation is so mean that we have to appease separatist and supremacist forces like this?

I wonder how many white people will take a knee during such tomfoolery.
I guarantee the NFL will hit players with sanctions who would dare have the audacity to kneel during it.
The NFL is trolling their own fans and testing the limits of their tolerance and patience.
Another eye-roll moment in professional sports. So done with the PC pandering.
One of the dumber instances of pandering I've seen from Corporate America.

How Orwellian of you.
You trying to be ironic? The NFL has taken pandering and racial ass-kissing to a shameful all time high. I only regret I can’t
take my level of boycott to any higher a degree.
It would be an absolute insult to America if the name “Michael Brown” ends up on a professional player’s jersey. How outrageous.

Wow....the most divisive president ever is your guy and you worry about a song at the start of football games?

I am completely aware of my posts. My defending Trump would mean that I thought he did something wrong and I am excusing it. I don't think he did. 3/4 of the accusations from the left are bullschitt, and the other quarter is taking things so out of proportion as to be laughable.

I see what Trump is doing because I look at it from a standpoint of whether or not I find it good for the nation. Just about everything I have seen him do has been positive. I agree with it more so because the left hates it, and anything the left hates is good for the nation.
So it was good for the nation to double the deficit to pay for a tax cut?

The Democrats are not uniting, they’re decisive. Trump is not uniting, he’s divisive. At least he’s better at doing things right for the country. I don’t see rankings as to who’s the “most divisive”. Oh well.
I do expect it from politicians, I don’t expect to see it in professional sports.
See the difference?

Biden is uniting.

Try actually listening to him.

The Washington NFL franchise might be named the Washington George Floyd’s soon. Lol...The only reason the NFL owners are pandering to black Americans is because they are afraid that all of their players could quit and form their own league along with the best white players and put them out of business. Without the players, these owners are worthless. Free market economy at work. The players have all the leverage they need to enact any changes they desire. Poetic justice at work. Same with the NBA.

Balderdash. Comparing two unrelated cases from six years apart to demonstrate this implied racism and blaming the police is far from a unifying principle. It’s a false construct being used by a social reform group that doesn’t appreciate American values like equality or capitalism.
Trump’s words from Mt Rushmore were more truthful and far more unifying. Did you listen last night?

The division in this country is rampant.

The current president is the most divisive in history. He has no interest in bringing all Americans together and healing old wounds, instead he stokes those divisions.

Vote for Biden for the sake of the Unites States of America!
Obama - and Bush before him - presided over an INCREDIBLY divided country. We’ve been this way for AT LEAST 15 years.

A vote for either of the two geezers is stupid, IMO. Especially for the one who’s been in government for nearly a half-century. Good grief.

One of these two geezers is going to be president. That is an undeniable fact. Don't you want to have a say in which one it is?

Capitalism nor any other ism is an American value Dino. There is no mention of capitalism in our founding documents. That’s just another myth advanced by the GOP propagandists for the past several decades. America was founded on the principles of personal freedom and free enterprise. Your whole premise is faulty.

Absolutely NOT. I won’t be a part of this - what a joke. A near 80-year old who first ran for president when I (a nearly retired businessman) was in bloody COLLEGE IN UNDERGRAD SCHOOL...and who has been in government spanning FIVE DECADES (now making the claim that he suddenly has the answers ———

And a billionaire, philandering, porn star-dating megalomaniac.

No...for some odd reason I have no interest in voting for either of those. I’ll remain a third party guy.
