Interesting comment. I have been associated with Latinos for ages, some who are third, fourth, even fifth generation. One such friend was the great-grandson of people who owned large tracts of land in southern NM as grants from the King of Spain. Danny was a military hero. He served in Special Forces and was award the Silver Star (presented to him by Ronald Reagan in the White House) for extra-ordinary conduct and bravery while saving a general's life. Later he was critically injured in a jump accident when his chute failed to open until he was hitting the limbs of a tree. Dusabled at the age of 31 his life expectency was predicted to be five years. He died right on schedule but his loyalty to this country never wavered and he had this to say about aliens crossing the border -- He was sorry for them but didn't sympathize with their methods of becoming citizens. He called them "wetbacks" and "scratchbacks" depending on whether they snuck into America by wading across the Rio Grande or slid under a fence to attain their goal. His opinion was well shared by many second and third generation Hispanics in that area.

I have family in Chiapas my wife and oldest daughter both lived there. They are naturalized citizens now and have seen first hand the devastion done to a community and its schools blighted by huge illegal alien influx. No way are either of them in favor of rewarding illegals with some kind amnesty or any other form of making their presence legitimate.
