Good for Senator Brown.Hmmmn. This is a Tea Party darling sharing his thoughts... More of this and Congress might occomplish something???
Here’s a pretty clear sign of which way the politics are moving in the fight over Obama’s decision to employ a recess appointment to install Richard Cordray as head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Senator Scott Brown — who’s facing a stiff populist challenge from Elizabeth Warren, the creator of the agency — has now come out in support of the move. His statement, sent over by his office:
“I support President Obama’s appointment today of Richard Cordray to head the CFPB. I believe he is the right person to lead the agency and help protect consumers from fraud and scams. While I would have strongly preferred that it go through the normal confirmation process, unfortunately the system is completely broken. If we’re going to make progress as a nation, both parties in Washington need to work together to end the procedural gridlock and hyper-partisanship.”

In fact the constitution says that the president may make appointments when the congress is not in session. Nowhere in the constitution does it say how long the recess has to be before the president can make the appointment. So five minutes after the senate is in recess, the president can legally make a recess appointment.....
It is just so typically sleezy...the Dems own policy is in place to only apply to GOP but when they want to break it. It's A-OK Peachy Keen.. They never cease to lower the bar on the quality of their own characterJen, the "pro-forma" sessions were gaveled into session and the session was recessed about 30 seconds later. Jon Stewart had a video clip of one of these events. When the senate ends a normal day they are in recess. The custom has been for the president to wait three days to make recess appointments, but that is not in the constitution nor any law. It was just accepted custom. Go read the constitution on recess appointments before you throw out another "unvarnished" truth.

You mean like when Congress refused to and still hasn't passed a budgetOk lets just say your right and Obama was sleazy, what do you call it when congress refuses to do their jobs, sleazy outrageous? They are on record as saying there was no reason against confirming the Man, but we don't like the agency that was created by THE HOUSE AND SENATE, signed into law by the President, so we will block it forever. Their job is to do the governments work. It's part of their job to act on the business put in front of them.
If they don't like the bill all they have to do is pass a bill rescinding it and move on, but it's not in their charter to my knowledge to block the govt from operating. It's a childish act from childish men who refuse to do their job because they don't like the outcome but can't muster the men needed to over ride it. This is not a temporary action to show disdain but a refusal to do their jobs is all, and that is why Obama had to show who the adult in the govt was.
Don't you wish you had a job where your employer must pay you and all you have to do is send a worker in to the place of employment and say OPEN FOR BUSINESS, and 5 seconds later regardless of who is there, saying business done, we are now closed.Well Jen. Ya gotta figure, if the President feels it constitutional to force you to buy a product he supports, then he doesn't really care about some silly little senate rule. Just who does the senate think they are anyway, a separate branch of the gubbmint?
So how many years would a CEO go without a budget? FYI The current standard set by Obama and his cronies is 3 yearsDon't you wish you had a job where your employer must pay you and all you have to do is send a worker in to the place of employment and say OPEN FOR BUSINESS, and 5 seconds later regardless of who is there, saying business done, we are now closed.
Tell me how long your CEO would put up with that?
