Are you saying it is impossible to do it now, as both sides negotiate?
I personally believe it can be done. And that it should be done.
I wish you'd think for just a minute about how the budget works. A government agency submits their budget to the White House...the White House incorporates all agency budgets into a federal budget. It is then sent to the House and Senate. They work out what the final budget will be and vote on it...then sending it back to the president to sign.
Federal agencies then plan out how they'll use the money. So at this point the agencies have all committed to projects and hiring levels. Now the republicans want to claw that back. Hell...for the most part the money has been spent and now it is time to pay the bills.
Look at what the republicans want. They want changes to rules related to letting companies mine on federal land. How in hell does that change the federal spending?
They want additional work requirements to qualify for medicaid or food stamps. How much money will we save by doing that?
How about we limit how much money is spent on Trump's legal defense? That must be a big number. If he is convicted could we eliminate his Secret Service protection? Cut his pension?
