Thanks Fareed Zakaria

I feel a bit lightheaded. Maybe you should drive.
So explain why you cannot actually refute anything he wrote?
What makes you think I have to? We've been round and round regarding the veracity of "official" government economic statistics, which is what he cited almost exclusively. It was one big appeal to authority that simply begs the question, if all of those stats are accurate, why do so many Americans across the political spectrum completely disagree with his premise?

CNN this morning had a 10 or 15 minute segment by Fareed. He compared the US to Russia and China. It was an amazing deconstruction on those who are sure the US is declining and that disaster is imminent. His fact by fact analysis of the US capacity and power was really enlightening. Our strengths are incredible and put the US head and shoulders above our rivals. Our aid for Ukraine has made them a powerful military force capable of tearing down the facade of Russian power and without a single American soldier being in danger. Our ability to produce energy dwarfs any other nation.

I'm sure it will be available on CNN.com. Look it up. The transcript isn't available yet.

Cheer leading strategic suicide, CNN should change it's name to that.

You and your beloved Fascists cohorts.

There is no greater threat to freedom of expression than the left.
Let's see the list of 'leftists' wanting to ban books that aren't of the far right wing published ideas in wanting to recruit.

What do you take from any given book? A lesson of being white, righteous and full of hatred?

You didn't read it but pretend you did....

There is nothing about Suez that involved the Russian invasion of Hungary. It gives you a problem trying to defend Russia and the interference in other nations. The US did not send troops into the area during the French, British and Israeli war on Egypt.

The Russian invasion began in June 1956. The war on Egypt started in October.
"In the afternoon of 23 October 1956, approximately 20,000 protestors met beside the statue of General József Bem, a national hero of Poland and Hungary.[47]

"To the amassed crowd of protestors, the intellectual Péter Veres, the president of the Writers' Union (Írószövetség), read a manifesto demanding Hungarian independence from all foreign powers; a democratic socialist political system based upon land reform and (public) state ownership in the economy; Hungarian membership to the United Nations; and all freedoms and rights for the citizens of Hungary."

US influence ended the Suez conflict, and Hungarians reasonably expected similar actions in support of their revolution:

"For one thing, it suggests that the U.N. decision to send an emergency force to the Middle East during the Suez crisis, more than the administration’s rhetoric about loosening Moscow’s ties with the East European satellites or hopes of liberation fostered by Radio Free Europe, was chiefly responsible for any expectations of Western military assistance that Hungarians had."

Stalin confiscated grain from Ukraine and the result was millions of people starved to death.
Russia invaded Hungary in 1956...why? Because they strayed from the party line.
They invaded Czechoslovakia in 1968...why? Same reason. They put up an iron curtain across Europe. Why? Because people chose to escape. A wall divided Berlin. Why? Too many people escaped their chains.
The Russians put a Russian army officer in control of North Korea...and set up the North Korean army for invasion.
Why did Russia invade Afghanistan? Why did they murder Amin?
Stalin sold the confiscated grain to pay for modernizing his army.
If he had not, Hitler would have conquered Russia during WWII.
Russia's Iron Curtain was a defensive measure designed to prevent another western invasion.
Russians supported free elections in Korea a month before the US Army outlawed the most popular party on the peninsula.
The Russians invaded Afghanistan in response to CIA provocations designed to stir up Islamic discontent on their southern border.
Why do you support a corrupt dictator like Idi Amin who demonstrated zero regard for democracy? Contrast that with Eisenhower's support for the assassination of Patrice Lumumba in Congo.

This is why I contend that the US shouldn't be the world police.

We should monitor the pulse but don't act out of greed and haste.

Our bravado has finally caught up with us.
There's an argument that US "defense" spending anchors the American economy.
With 800 military bases around the globe throwing off billions of dollars every year many of those dollars purchase US Treasury bills. These countries essentially finance US imperialism and the domestic lifestyles of Americans.

"Business Insider noted that the US federal government only dedicated $76.4 billion in discretionary spending for education in 2022, meaning it spent over 10 times as much on the military.

"The Joe Biden administration has requested a mere $90 billion for education in 2024, compared to $842 billion for the military, Business Insider pointed out."

Platforms that launch Patriot missiles can be repurposed to launch Tomahawk missiles capable of carrying nuclear weapons. How did JFK respond to similar Soviet missiles in Cuba?
Bullshit. Look up the specs on a tomahawk. They are too large to fit in a patriot tube.

Creative history...just keep making shit up. Defend the murder of millions...Defend Russian invasions and occupations...
Poor Russia, forced to invade Ukraine to prevent an alliance that wasn't even in process and the placement of mythical nuclear missiles.

WTF does this have to do with anything? Primary and Secondary education is funded at a county level...not the federal government. Public school spending is $401 billion. non-profit Private school spending is another $242 billion.

How many millions have Americans murdered, maimed, and displaced since 1945?
How many Native Americans since 1787?
You consistently defend the greatest purveyor of violence in the world perfecting full spectrum dominance on the opposite side of the planet while shedding crocodile tears for Ukrainians and Hungarians.
