The Texas Heartbeat Law

reason10

Governor
Here is the text of the bill that was signed into law by Governor Abbott.

For those of you who may not have the legal education to grasp the text, (and I admit that there are times when lawyerese is practically a foreign language of its own), here is the law explained by a neutral source.

A few extra details here:

1. The people who drafted this bill were democratically elected by the people of Texas. Nine of those who sponsored the bill were women.

2. The governor who signed this bill into law was democratically elected by the people of Texas.

3. For those who think this is the end of a woman's right to kill her baby, this is Texas. There are 49 other states.

4. The extremes on the right want all abortions outlawed, making the assumption that life begins at conception and a human being is created then. The extremes on the left actually voted for Governor Northam, who signed this extreme horror into law.

In response, Northam said that a baby born alive could be “kept comfortable” and then “resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired” – the implication being that the baby could be left to die if the family decided they did not want to keep their child.

The Texas law is somewhere in the middle of the argument, kind of like where most Americans are.
